Talent Wins National Search for the Voice To Bring Booker T. Washington to Life
CINCINNATI, August 20, 2004 -- Andrew Barnes -- The Voiceover Guy" -- was chosen from more than 150 actors to portray the voice of Booker T. Washington and provide the total narrative script for an award-winning multimedia presentation at the Booker T. Washington National Monument in Tuskegee, Alabama.
To portray the great American educator and leader Booker T. Washington, who for 20 years was the most influential African-American in the United States, Mr. Barnes studied the only audio recording available to learn Bookers unique way of speaking. His diligent preparation and expert performance drew praise from the staff at the National Monument. The universal comment about Mr. Barnes was that his voice is soothing, informative, and respectful while maintaining the users attention throughout the narrative."
Mr. Barnes performance is an integral part of the new Interactive Visitor Information System at the Booker T. Washington National Monument. Created and produced by Interactive Design, Inc., of Roanoke, Virginia, the interactive program has earned multiple awards from the National Park Service for its quality, originality, and effectiveness. Mr. Barnes has been retained for all future enhancements and extracurricular programs.
