Artist Creates Toilet Art

For 10 years, Adrian Rodriguez has been photographing colorful dyes as they drip in his toilet bowl to make what he calls "toilygraphs. In the process, Rodriguez has turned his bathroom into a photo studio

Toilygraph - These colorful illusions were created through a process utilizing a myriad of colors. The different images were composed by introducing various types of dyes into toilet. This long, tedious task requires split-second timing in order to give birth to a unique piece of art and photography. Through this technique, I have been able to explore new horizons in my thinking and open unknown regions of creativity in photography. My love for the sea and of astronomy was the inspiration for some of my titles. However, each image invites the observer to envision an endless amount of possibilities.

ADRIAN RODRIGUEZ, Artistic Photographer, was born in the Bronx, New York, in 1965. He became interested in photography at an early age. He was graduated from Herbert H. Lehman High School in 1985. He moved to Montgomery County, Pennsylvania in 1987, where he studied photography at Montgomery County Community College. He currently lives in Glenside, PA with his wife of 15 years and his seven-year old daughter, Julia.

Using his natural talent and creativity, Adrian has developed a body of unique abstract images which clearly unites art and photography. He has also captured fascinating photographs of landscape, nature, wildlife, and a variety of candid moments. His work has been published in Best of Photography Annual. Exhibitions include juried shows at Chester County Art Association; Chestnut Hill Business Association; Peddler's Village Art Faire; Turntable at the Junction in Flemington, NJ; and a solo show at the Congregation Beth Or Art Gallery in Spring House, PA. His work is scheduled to be featured on Don Polec's World, Philadelphia Channel 6 on Action News @ 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 29, 2004.
