Allah Made Me Funny - The Official Muslim Comedy Tour To Visit Keenan Theatre In Columbia, SC

First-of-its-kind national Muslim comedy tour to stop in South Carolina.

Columbia SC (PRWEB) August 26, 2004 -- Allah Made Me Funny" -- The Official Muslim Comedy Tour, will make its second stop in a 30-city national tour at the Keenan Theatre in Columbia S.C, announced Preacher Moss, producer of the Muslim Comedy Tour.

Moss, a former writer for George Lopez, The George Lopez Show, and Saturday Night Lives Darryl Hammond, describes the tour as an opportunity to promote cross cultural understanding and dispel racial stereotypes in post 9/11 America, using comedy as the vehicle."

The tour will visit the Keenan Theatre in Columbia, S.C on Saturday August 28th, and will start at 8:00 pm. The show will feature top American Muslim comics including producer, Preacher Moss; Chicagos Azhar Usman and South Carolina native and headliner, Azeem, whose local youth foundation, Azeems Kids Foundation, will sponsor this stop on the tour.

A portion of the proceeds from the Columbia show will go directly towards Azeems Kids Foundation, a Columbia-based charity that is dedicated to helping children who are in foster and juvenile care. Through Azeems foundation, children receive guidance and mentoring to achieve a positive outlook on life.

According to Azeem, One of the principles of Islam is that we are charitable and that we give back to our youth. The Columbia show is significant because it is the first stop on the tour where we will donate some of our profits towards our community initiatives that focus on youth."

The tour is receiving critical acclaim and support from national Muslim organizations including CAIR (Counsel of American Islamic Relations) and the Islamic Foundation of America. Additionally, it has been a focal point of interest for international media outlets including BBC, CNN, ABC and NBC.

The shows in Toronto and Washington D.C were sold out and included audiences with Muslims and Non-Muslims alike.

Our goal for the tour is to bring the Islamic community into mainstream America. We want to dispel the negative stereotypes that still exist from the September 11th attacks," said tour comedian, Azhar Usman.

Comedy provides the perfect forum to satirize and poke fun at ourselves and at the same time, provoke social assessment."

The tour will hit a number of cities throughout the U.S including, Chicago on September 4th and 5th, Orlando on November 14th, Detroit on November 18th and Los Angeles on December 24th. More cities will be announced over the coming months.

Ticket prices for the Columbia show range from $15 to $20. Tickets can be purchased on-line at www.ticketweb.com.
