Allah Made Me Funny - The Official Muslim Comedy Tour To Stop In Raleigh, North Carolina
30-city Muslim comedy tour to stop in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Raleigh N.C., September 7, 2004 -- Allah Made Me Funny -- The Official Muslim Comedy Tour," created to promote cross cultural awareness and tolerance, will be making a stop at the Vital Link School, in Raleigh N.C on September 24 & 25, announced Preacher Moss, the tours producer and headliner.
Currently on a 30-city national tour, Muslim comics Preacher Moss, Azeem and Azhar Usman are generating both national and international media attention for the tours relevance to post 9/11 stereotypes attached to the Muslim Community, and for using the unlikely vehicle of comedy to provoke social assessment.
Additionally, people of all cultures are taking a significant interest in the tour. The shows in Toronto, Washington D.C and Columbia, SC were sold out and audiences included both Muslims and Non-Muslims alike.
We are so pleased with the critical acclaim and support we are receiving from the media, our audiences and national Muslim organizations, who all recognize the significance of the tours objective to bring the Islamic culture into mainstream America.
Through comedic material that is both entertaining and educational we are able to satirize our culture and generate a better understanding of who we are," said Preacher Moss, a former writer for George Lopez and Saturday Night Lives Darryl Hammond.
Preacher Mosss comedy speaks to a duality of cultures. Black Muslims represent the largest Muslim population in the United States and according to Moss, Prominent black Muslims have been under-represented in the mainstream media since the 9/11 attacks on America."
We are looking forward to welcoming the Allah Made Me Funny tour to Raleigh," said Imam Oliver Muhammad, Event Coordinator for the Raleigh leg of the tour, As we know, Raleigh has a very large and diverse Muslim population who we hope will appreciate and understand the tours sincere and progressive messages. We encourage people of all cultures to see the show, as we hope to make a small contribution to bridging cultural gaps through comedy."
The tour will hit the Vital Link School in Raleigh, NC on September 24 & 25 with shows starting at 8:00 pm. Tickets are available online at www.ticketweb.com or by calling 1-800-965-4827.
