The book is the only how to build wealth book targeted to the urban, young, hip hop community and details how to make money despite a sluggish and poor economy for college aged urban youth. The book is written in English and Spanish and will be available in stores in both languages.

Gerard Spinks, a serial entrepreneur has written and released the first and only how to get rich guide targeted to inner city, hip hop youth. The How To Be Rich, Nigga book is self-published by Gerard Spinks who owns and controls the entire book and released it with his own cash. To date, over 35,000+ people have downloaded the first 20 pages of the book.

The book is delivered to independent bookstores, Amazon.com, and independent record stores throughout the United States and can also be found at Historically Black College and University campus bookstores. Gerard Spinks, known in hip hop circles as GDS and sports circles simply as a member of the renowned Spinks boxing family clan, is releasing 3 books in 2004: How To Be Rich, Nigga in English, How To Be Rich, Vato in Spanish, and an audio book of the series in IPOD format and MP3 format.

GDS says that the book has helped people look at this economic time very differently and challenges urban youth to create their own path and learn to become self-sufficient. He says "We have all seen that depending upon the U.S. Government for sustenance makes no sense and simply doesn't work. I know people who legitimately lost their jobs, needed unemployment benefits to live, and were denied a claim. Black people cannot depend upon anyone else for our rise up and college kids need to be equipped to deal with outsourcing and with a very bleak job creation outlook."

Gerard Spinks is an internet entrepreneur and multi-millionaire as a result of the high technology industry. Gerard runs a high technology consulting practice, is an author and film developer. He hails from Peoria, Illinois and is a cousin of Michael, Leon, and Cory Spinks (the welterweight champion of the world). He presently resides in New York, Atlanta, and Oakland, California.
