Oktoberfest and first annual Fudge Fest are highlighted fall events on Mackinac Island
MACKINAC ISLAND, MI (PRWEB) August 27, 2004 -- Mackinac Island will offer something for everyone this fall as it hosts a series of fall festivals and events for the entire family. Featured events will include:
2nd Annual Mackinac Island Oktoberfest - October 14 - 16
Delight to the tastes and sounds of Old Bavaria as Mackinac Island presents its second annual Oktoberfest Thursday, October 14 through Saturday, October 16. Come celebrate the joy of love, the essence of family and the bounteous crops, much like it was done in 1810 in honor of the wedding of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese. Thursday evening opens with a beer and regional food tasting dinner, Friday and Saturday features the Bavarian music of the Continentals, beer tents featuring Michigan microbreweries, walking tours, Mackinacs favorite pastime-family hayrides, apple bobbing, scarecrow making contest, pumpkin painting and old fashioned games.
First Annual Fall Fudge Festival - October 22-23
Think you know fudge? Test your taste buds as Mackinac Island celebrates the fudge made fresh daily in the fifteen fudge stores that operate on the Island. From Friday, October 22 through Saturday, October 23 hotels will host culinary events, old-fashioned games, fudge spa treatments and progressive Victorian masked fudge and wine tastings. Mackinac Island fudge is known worldwide and this event is a must for die-hard fudgies"!
Halloween -- October 29-30
Mackinac Island closes its fall season with an old-fashioned family Halloween celebration Friday, October 20 through Saturday, October 30. The Mackinac Island Great Turtle 5.7 Mile/Half Marathon kicks of the festivities with a run through the Islands scenic trails. Take the kids trick or treating downtown, go apple bobbing, learn the art of cookie decoration, participate in the pumpkin luge on Mission Hill, go on a family hayride and dont forget to vote for your favorite scarecrows and jack-'o-lanterns. Be sure to check out the Victorian grandeur at Grand Hotel's Somewhere in Time weekend.
