"Sex and the Single Sister" Author Puts Her Written Advice Where Her Mouth Is
Author Maryann Reid takes on a new role as relationship advisor and says there is no "definitive African American" voice on dating for single young career women.
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 30, 2004 -- Author Maryann Reid takes on a new role as relationship advisor to single young career women. Her focus is on dating, self renewal and establishing strong relationships with men.
There is no young, definitive African American role model for women on dating. I want to bridge that gap between men and women, particularly black men and women. I want us to love each other again and bring marriage back in style," says Reid who has authored several womens fiction books and is scheduled to appear on Life & Style, a new talk show to premiere in September on the Oxygen network. One of Reids major concerns is the 70% out of wedlock rate in the black community. Women have the power in relationships, or at least we used to. Its time for us to take it back and set a new tone with men."
Reid also runs an advice column, I Got Issues" on her website at www.maryannreid.com to help single women and men understand themselves and their partners. I get hundreds of emails from as far as Asia from distraught men and women who have no one to relate to. They know what I have been through and want some direction." Reid is in her late twenties and uses her time as a single woman to help other singles. Single women look forward to her unique approach because she is in the trenches with them and not waving at them from above."
Reid will launch the paperback edition of her book, Use Me or Lose Me in October 2004.
