American Frame Corp., a leader in the on-line Â?do-it-yourselfÂ? picture framing industry, has lauched The ArtShopÂ? - the industryÂ?s first enhanced art print and comprehensive imaging services website - bringing custom art creation and framing together in a single, simple online ordering system.

The initial rollout of the site includes an on-line art and custom frame service drawing from a database of over 13,000 images and nearly 400 custom frame treatments; ImageEdit featuring photo restoration, repair and “photo to art” services; and large format art printing on various papers including canvas.

All services integrate with the company’s advanced frame engine technology which allows a customer to upload a jpeg or tiff file and “virtually” frame it on-line using their own custom measurements and material choices.

The ArtShop™ was originally intended to be a small-scale adjunct to the company’s core “do-it-yourself” framing website. According to Ron Mickel, President, “Most of our customers are artists and photographers. Our goal was to expand our reach to other art buyers who might otherwise be intimidated by “do-it-yourself” framing. We know how to make custom framing fun and easy, and we sell at a much lower cost than our competitors. Yet the more we dug into this project, the more possibilities we envisioned for a comprehensive imaging and art service, far beyond what we’ve seen in our industry to date.”

Laura Jajko, VP of American Frame, selected DigitalCustom Group based in Cincinnati, OH as American Frame’s fulfillment partner for custom image-editing and photo restoration services. Ms. Jajko said “With DigitialCustom, we have created the simplest, highest quality and most cost effective way to repair, restore, or edit images, print them, frame them, and ship finished custom pieces direct to the customer. This is an exciting union of three key imaging services – custom framing, image editing, and high quality printing.”

A highlight of the ArtShop™ is the PrintPilot™ scanning tool. American Frame created a seamless, user-friendly interface which tells the customer right at the point of upload how large a reproduction can be made from a given digital file. This is helpful to both the novice who needs photo restoration, and to the professional artist who may be preparing files for large format reproductions.

All printing and framing is completed on-site at American Frame’s facility in Maumee, OH. Image editing is completed by DigitalCustom’s professional digital editing and photo restoration experts. Completed files are returned to the customer within 48 hours. From that point, a printing and framing order can be placed on-line, or the customer can simply archive and print their own images themselves.
