ASGA TOUR ANNOUNCES CHARITY FOR AUSTIN EVENT - Central Texas Section Championship to Benefit Marine Toys For Tots

Marine Toys For Tots Foundation will be the benefiting charity for the Central Texas Section Championship which will be held at the Clubs of Lakeway in Austin TX. October 28-31, 2004

Elizabeth City, NC (PRWEB) August 29, 2004 -- The ASGA Tour, Inc. announced today that the Marines Toys For Tots Foundation will be the benefiting charity for the Central Texas Section Championship, which will be held at the Clubs of Lakeway in Austin, TX, from October 28-31. The event kicks off the 2004 Toy Drive with the celebrity Pro-Am on Thursday, October 28, 2004, followed by three days of tournament competition from Friday through Sunday.

The ASGA Tours Pro-Championship Division, which has been around since 1999, is open to golfers 18-47 years of age and 48 years and older (Senior Division) who compete at scratch, including former PGA Tour players who are preparing for the Champions Tour as well as players who are not fully exempt on either the PGA Tour or Champions Tour.

Beginning this year, players of all skill levels will have a chance to live their dreams and compete like the pros for the first time. The ASGA Tour is introducing the Pro-Net Division, a competition offering substantial prize money to golfers ages 18 years and older with handicaps as low as zero and as high as 36. Pro-Net Division golfers will compete using their handicaps under the ASGA @ Par Handicap System and winners can take home as much as $10,000 per event.

"When the ASGA first contacted the Marine Toys For Tots Foundation, I was immediately excited that we could launch our 2004 Toy drive with a high-profile event where the public was invited to participate in the festivities," said 1st Sgt. Mark H. Clark. We will be collecting new, unwrapped toys at the entrance gates which will be distributed by the local Salvation Army."

"The members and staff of the Lakeway Golf Club are very excited about hosting the ASGA tour at our Live Oak course in late October," said Glenn Lee, Lakeway Regional Director of Golf. This event will give the participants the opportunity to compete in conditions similar to those in most tour events."

About the ASGA Tour
The ASGA Tour is the country's premier intermediary professional golf tour conducting tour caliber events for former PGA Tour professionals preparing for the Champions Tour, non-exempt professionals on the Champions Tour, and celebrity challengers and professionals 18 years old and up preparing for the big tour. Beginning in 2004, the ASGA Tour will also conduct a Pro-Net competition for players of all skill levels 18 years of age and older who will compete for substantial prize money with their handicaps in the Tour event atmosphere of ASGA events. About the US Pro Golf League
The United States Pro Golf League is a national golf organization that provides its members with the opportunity to play in a professional golf environment. Members play in a local league in three one-day (18-hole) events, and the first 144 members of each Section are automatically entered in the Section Championship. The top finishers in the each Section Championship qualify for the National Championship. USPGL members also compete for bonus pools and exempt ASGA Tour Card status for the 2005 season. In addition, everyone who signs up receives a valuable benefits package from some of the top providers in the industry. The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
