A small and destitute orphanage in Ukraine that houses HIV Children needs our help desperately!

Please support our project to "adopt" this orphanage in Eastern Ukraine. They have urgent needs and we at the UOCFP have now made this project a top priority and have promised to help in any way possible.

Makiivsky Orphanage for HIV Children, Makiivka, Ukraine

Makiivsky has everyday and critical needs for HIV/AIDS Orphans.

A visit back in the spring to the Makiivsky Orphanage by Alla Galych, a very compassionate Ukrainian humanitarian worker and an acquaintance of many years, left this orphanage going home in tears. "The situation there affected me badly", say's Alla, "They have nothing and I need to do something about it, hence the reason I contacted you".

We at the UOCFP have made this a top priority and have promised to help in anyway possible. This has now become a major project of ours.

Who is the UOCFP?

We are a small, regional, grassroots and volunteer only charity that is not affiliated with any religious, political or other non-profit. Basically, we are just a few ordinary people who want to help disadvantage youth in Ukraine. We welcome your comments, opinions and help in any way. About Makiivsky:

According to the information received on June 22nd, there are 80 children (ages 3 months - 8 years) residing at this orphanage with the HIV infection.

They are asking for daily living essential needs like clothing, shoes, toys, books, stationery and school supplies, and more.

Crucial Medicine is urgently needed for this type of treatment. The complete list is on our web site: www.uocfp.org. These medications and supplies must be purchased in Ukraine. For a one-month supply: $1183 HR (approximately $225.00 USD) for these 80 kids.

This is truly a forgotten and poor orphanage and these are critical needs!

>HIV/AIDS in Ukraine FACTS:

Ukraine has the highest proportion of HIV cases in Eastern Europe. 19% of Ukrainian youth ages 15 & up are already infected with HIV. It is also estimated that over 1% of the general population now has this infection.

Its not these children's fault that they have this infection. Just because of this cruel fate we cannot turn our backs and look the other way and do nothing.

Ukraine received $92 Million (USD) from a Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB & Malaria. The World Bank gave a loan of $60 Million to the Government of Ukraine in 2003 for accelerated access to treatment". Thats a total of $152 million dollars that we know about!

Sadly, very little has reached this orphanage and these children who need it the most!

How you can help:

Donations: Are needed desperately and on a monthly basis. All medications must be approved" by the Ukrainian Government and be purchased in Ukraine. We would like to send to this orphanage $225.00 USD per month from now until they do not need our help anymore.

We plan to go to Ukraine in the coming months to oversea our effort. Along with the medications (a must), it makes more sense to purchase the living essentials over there, as the logistics and costs to ship them would be too prohibitive.

PLEASE help us with this project, as this orphanage's needs are many. Someone's got to help them. Please be a part in this operation to "adopt the orphanage" and help it's 80 children who have HIV.
