Orlando Utilities Commission Adopts MWH Soft Advanced ArcGIS-Centric Modeling Technology

MWH Soft, Inc., a leading global provider of water resources applications software, today announced that Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC), Floridas second-largest municipal utility, has selected MWH Soft InfoWater Suite to better meet its enterprise GIS water system hydraulic modeling needs.

Broomfield, CO (PRWEB) September 2, 2004 -- MWH Soft, Inc., a leading global provider of water resources applications software, today announced that Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC), Floridas second-largest municipal utility, has selected MWH Soft InfoWater Suite to better meet its enterprise GIS water system hydraulic modeling needs. The move adds OUC to the growing list of progressive utilities worldwide who find MWH Softs ArcGIS-centric technology (ESRI, Redlands, CA) to be the ultimate solution for comprehensive enterprise wide GIS-based water system hydraulic modeling and management.

With more than $2 billion in assets and annual operating revenues in excess of $450 million, the Orlando Utilities Commission serves a population of 364,500. Its 195-square-mile service area covers Orlando, St. Cloud and parts of unincorporated Orange and Osceola counties. OUC maintains eight treatment plants and a complex network of 1,481 miles of water mains - and has received many accolades from AWWA for providing Central Floridas best drinking water based on taste, clarity and color. The award-winning utility will use InfoWater Suite to help manage, operate, and optimize its drinking water infrastructure.

"GIS is a cornerstone of modern asset management systems, and MWH Soft is the only company to offer a fully integrated, truly ArcGIS-centric modeling solution that enables water utilities to efficiently and cost-effectively manage, maintain and utilize geospatial information using hallmark flow, pressure, energy and quality analysis and optimization tools," said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, President and COO of MWH Soft. "OUC has always been at the forefront of GIS and hydraulic modeling. We are delighted to broaden our partnership and help them maximize their GIS data investment to facilitate faster, more accurate model development and more timely and effective decision making."

Unlike other offerings on the market, MWH Softs InfoWater Suite addresses every aspect of utility infrastructure expansion, rehabilitation, operation, management, optimization and protection - delivering the highest rate of return in the industry. Built atop ArcGIS and drawing on the most advanced numerical computation and object-component geospatial technologies, it effortlessly reads GIS datasets; corrects network topology problems and data flaws; extracts pertinent modeling information; and automatically constructs, skeletonizes, loads, calibrates and generates optimized solutions with astounding speed. The result is performance modeling that sets new standards of scalability, reliability, functionality and flexibility within the powerful ArcGIS environment. Using this technology, utilities can quickly simulate and evaluate various conditions; pinpoint current and future problem areas; and determine the most cost-effective improvements to achieve optimum performance, regulatory compliance, and community relations.

"OUC is constantly challenged to achieve a delicate balance: delivering high quality drinking water and superior customer service while keeping tight control on costs," said Ron Hawkins, Technical Service Manager for OUCs Water Business Unit. "For the last seven years, weve depended on MWH Soft advanced CAD-based modeling technology and excellent technical support to attain these goals. Migrating to the InfoWater ArcGIS-centric platform gives us the vital ability to quickly access and share critical GIS and modeling information, eliminate data redundancy, improve data accuracy, and realize optimum results with even greater time and cost savings."

"More and more utilities are recognizing the value of a true GIS-centric network modeling and optimization software solution," noted J. Erick Heath, P.E., Vice President of Sales and Client Relations at MWH Soft. "Our InfoWater Suite gives users the complete and powerful toolset they need to make fast, reliable management decisions while maximizing profitability. OUC is especially well-equipped to make full use of these advantages, and our company is proud to contribute to its success."
