RE-Elect Steve Oelrich as your Alachua County Sheriff

Please cast your vote for me as Your Sheriff on Tuesday, November 2, 2004.

(PRWEB) September 2, 2004 -- Dear Citizen and Friend:

Since first taking office in January 1993, the Alachua County Sheriffs Office (ACSO) has been on a continuous path of improvement, growth, and professionalism. While we have made great strides, our work is not done.

We have taken on many tasks over the past twelve years in order to make the ACSO a premiere law enforcement agency. We have sought and were awarded state and national accreditation of our law enforcement, jail, communications, and inmate medical operations. We have streamlined our reporting system on all levels to provide our employees the tools necessary to properly carry out their duties in a safe and professional manner. Additionally, we have developed a modern database in order to provide a modern database of information necessary to assist in handling thousands of calls we respond to each and every year. Through the use of information, technology, and specially trained units, we have efficiently assigned and trained our personnel in order to provide the best service to our community.

We continue to pride ourselves in our accountability to the citizens. We have partnered with community groups and members of the media in order to ensure that the ACSO is in tune with the concerns, desires and trends in our community. Through the use of citizen surveys, community contacts, and crime prevention programs, we have increased our preventative approach by becoming better community partners. We want to stop the crime and violence in our community. When people call us with a concern or with a "thank you," we promptly call them back. When people write us about a problem or of appreciation, we write them back. Our role in this community is one of service, trust, and protection. WE WILL NEVER BE an unresponsive government bureaucracy! My promise to the citizens of Alachua County is fair and professional treatment of all who come into contact with the ACSO.

Because our work is not done, I am asking for your continued support as I run for re-election. Your vote, your contribution, and your expressions of support to as many neighbors, friends, and coworkers as possible, will help me continue this work. Help me continue the forward progression our brave men and women at the Alachua County Sheriffs Office have accomplished to improve the quality of life in our community.

Please cast your vote for me as Your Sheriff on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 .

Sincerely,

Sheriff Steve Oelrich
