PITTSBURGH, PA (PRWEB) September 3, 2004 -- Wizzard Software (OTCBB:WIZD) announced today they have expanded their portfolio of offerings powered by IBM WebSphere Voice Application Access 5.0. The WizzScribe Software Developers Kit (SDK) and server-based runtimes support the offline conversion of voice audio into text, bringing large vocabulary voice recognition technology to a new generation of business applications. Wizzard chose IBM's WVAA 5.0 solution because of its rapid application environment and built in authentication technologies - freeing the developer to focus on core business application logic. It is IBM's premiere solution for the delivery of voice portals and managed voice applications.
A first of its kind, WizzScribe supports a wide variety of input devices and methods through the use of an offline mode of voice recognition. It can also add speech recognition capability to industrial strength server based applications whenever large volumes of audio need to be converted into text for searching, data-mining, storage and documentation.
"One of the more powerful attributes of WizzScribe is its ability to be implemented as a voice portlet that enables users to call into a portal, dictate information, and then have the dictated audio converted into text," said Igor Jablokov, IBM's Program Director for Multimodal & Voice Portals. "The results of the converted audio (text) can then be used by an application, accessed through the Web or sent to the user by email."
WizzScribe targets an emerging and substantial market for server based speech recognition. Applications range from corporate customers wanting to increase mobile workforce productivity, to ISPs that offer dictation services. Applications that can benefit from this offering include note keeping and information gathering for mobile professionals and blue collar workers, data-mining of various audio streams as well as more traditional uses like correspondence and documentation. There is tremendous potential value in adding server-based large-vocabulary speech recognition to corporate applications.
"If you think of this as an electronic clipboard accessed via telephony you begin to see the productivity advantages to a mobile sales force," said Bruce Phifer, Wizzard Software's General Manager of Business and Market Development. "The flexibility and scalability of a deferred recognition server based implementation opens up this powerful technology to an expanding list of uses that go far beyond traditional dictation technology."
