ATLANTA, GA (PRWEB) September 3, 2004 -- Dragon*Con (www.dragoncon.org ), America's largest annual science fiction and pop-culture event kicks off Labor Day Weekend with a press conference and Album Release Party of To The Stars" for legendary jazz great Chick Corea, hosted by Kill Bill actor and fellow musician David Carradine, followed by a pre-release conference of the Norwegian rock foursome Hangface, hosted by veteran rock producer and engineer Eddie Kramer. The back-to-back programs begin 4:00 pm in the Woodruff Suite at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Downtown Atlanta.

In the course of a production and engineering career that has spanned 30 years, Eddie Kramer has been behind the boards for the biggest names in music -- The Rolling Stones, Traffic, Peter Frampton, Carly Simon, Joe Cocker, Johnny Winter, David Bowie, The Beatles and Bad Company, just to name a few. But he is perhaps best known for three long-term associations in which he not only helped create some of the most important music of the rock era, but also set standards for rock production that set him aside as a true innovator. His work with Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Kiss produced music which continues to influence rock musicians and producers today.

At Dragon*Con, Kramer introduces Hangface, the Norwegian rock band that slams vividly colorful melodies into grinding hard rock, giving new meaning, substance and depth to the term "Hard Rock." Since their introduction to the Norwegian music scene in 1999, the band's reviews read like mega rock stars. According to Kramer, "Take the drive from the Foo Fighters, add the groove from Audioslave and add the heaviness of Metallica - then you might get a sense of what Hangface is about." Hangface will rock the Centennial Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Atlanta at 10:00 pm at Dragon*Con on Friday night, September 3rd, 2004 at Dragon*Con.

The music of the Chick Corea album is a spellbinding and masterfully innovative tone poem inspired by one of the most powerful novels in the history of science fiction - L. Ron Hubbards To the Stars." According to Corea, I came across a part in the beginning that describes the Captain of the spaceship playing a hypnotic melody on the piano in a dive of a spaceport bar in what is called 'New Chicago and I thought to myself, 'I hear that music." The album brought the Elektric Band back into the recording studio for the first time in a decade with Chick, on piano and synthesizers, reuniting with original band members; bassist John Patitucci, drummer Dave Weckl, guitarist Frank Gambale and saxophonist Eric Marienthal.

Twelve-time Grammy Award winning musician, Chick Corea and his world-famed Elektric Band will perform passages from their groundbreaking new album, To the Stars," on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at 10:00 pm in the Centennial Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Atlanta Hotel at Dragon*Con. Corea will also participate in a live audio theatre performance of To The Stars" on Sunday, September 5, 2004 at the Atlanta Civic Center, also featuring Carradine and fantasy Grandmaster Anne McCaffrey.

Dragon*Con takes place September 3-6, 2004 at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta and Atlanta Marriott Marquis. Now in its 18th year, the event hosts over 850 hours of panels, workshops, demonstrations and discussions with authors, editors, artists, game designers and media personalities. Dragon*Con also presents theatrical and radio performances, concerts and dances, gaming tournaments, costume contests, and one of the largest Dealers Rooms & Exhibit Halls in the world.
