Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) September 5, 2004 -- The Forum for Questioning Minds, a non-profit forum of educational lectures and discussions, debuts its 2004-2005 season on Sunday, September 12, 2004 from 2:45 pm to 4:30 pm. The interactive lecture series will be held downstairs in Salt Lake Citys Main Library, at 210 East 400 South. Questioning Minds will focus their bi-monthly presentations, held the second and fourth Sundays of every month from September through May, on the less-heard voices and issues of particular interest to Utahns. Lectures will not be held on major holiday weekends.

Speakers will be drawn from respected local experts on topics that range from health, the environment, education, and poverty to ethics, politics, social justice and the media. The Questioning Minds educational forum is designed to be an interactive experience with presentations followed by an extended question-and-answer session and a speaker's handout of follow-up reading and resources. The public is welcome. Lectures are free of charge and reservations are not needed.

Current president Reece Newman says of the Forum for Questioning Minds, "We want to host intelligent discussion of the issues that concern people in Utah. We also want to let people know what they can do about those issues. The Forum for Questioning Minds asks each speaker what other organizations are involved in their topic issue and what people can do next or where they can go to volunteer if they wish to. We hope," he said, "to build both a forum for community voices and a repository of next-step resources."

Introducing the 2004-2005 series, which runs from September through May, will be well known University of Utah philosophy professor Deen Chattergee speaking on the topic "War and Morality: Rethinking the Just War Tradition in the 21st Century." Full information about the series and upcoming presentations can be found at www.questioning-minds.org.
