Massachusetts Largest Water Authority Upgrades to MWH Soft GIS Technology to Support Large Scale Enterprise-Wide Geospatial Hydraulic Modeling
In the latest illustration of its market-leading momentum, MWH Soft, Inc., a leading global provider of water resources applications software, today announced that the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) has selected MWH Soft InfoWater Suite as its enterprise GIS hydraulic modeling system.
Broomfield, CO (PRWEB) September 5, 2004 -- In the latest illustration of its market-leading momentum, MWH Soft, Inc., a leading global provider of water resources applications software, today announced that the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) has selected MWH Soft InfoWater Suite as its enterprise GIS hydraulic modeling system. MWRA considered other geospatial modeling software, but ultimately opted to upgrade to the ArcGIS-based (ESRI, Redlands, CA) InfoWater, the worlds premier water distribution geoengineering solution.
The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) is responsible for providing wholesale water and sewerage services to 2.6 million people and more than 5,500 large industrial users in 61 metropolitan Boston communities. Its service area spans more than 800 square miles comprising several treatment plants, 780 miles of large-diameter pipelines, and dozens of pumping stations and tunnels. The authority, which supplies an average of 230 million gallons of water per day, will use InfoWater as the basis for developing a comprehensive GIS-based solution for modeling and managing its drinking water infrastructure and optimizing its capital improvement projects.
"We needed to find a comprehensive ArcGIS-centric modeling and optimization solution that would please everyone and accommodate advanced technology our teams were accustomed to using," said Lisa Bina, P.E., hydraulic modeling specialist for MWRA. "InfoWater Suite offers a great combination of performance, functionality, ease of use, flexibility, and low cost of ownership, which also are a tremendous benefit advantage from an IT management perspective. We can now achieve significant time and cost efficiencies and improved solutions in areas such as engineering, design, planning, GIS and project collaboration."
Built atop ArcGIS and using the most advanced and award-winning network analysis and optimization technologies, InfoWater addresses every facet of utility infrastructure management and protection, delivering the highest rate of return in the industry. The MWH Soft geospatial software suite effortlessly reads ESRI GIS geodatabases; corrects network topology problems and data flaws; extracts pertinent modeling information; and automatically constructs, skeletonizes, loads, calibrates and generates credible network models with astounding speed.
The suite also allows users to share mission-critical GIS and modeling information in real time over the Internet and corporate intranets. Once models have been established, users can easily run and simulate various conditions, pinpoint system deficiencies, plan sound security measures, develop cost-effective energy solutions for water system operations, and determine the most cost-effective improvement and rehabilitation strategies to achieve optimum performance and regulatory compliance, and enhance community relations.
"MWH Soft InfoWater Suite software has proven to be a competitive advantage for water utilities and engineering organizations worldwide," said J. Erick Heath, P.E., Vice President of Sales and Client Relations at MWH Soft. "It offers unparalleled value and business benefits to our customers. All operations of a typical water supply and distribution system - from analysis and design to management functions like fire flow assessment, real-time control, pump scheduling, water security, and record-keeping - are addressed directly within the powerful ArcGIS environment. The end result is world-record geospatial modeling performance. No other ArcGIS-centric application delivers such a comprehensive geoengineering toolset or such an effective mode of collaboration between engineering and GIS professionals. Both are critical to business advantage and success."
"Our primary objective with InfoWater was to stay very customer-focused and give users exactly what theyve asked for - outstanding performance, ease of use, seamless interoperability, powerful features, reliability, flexibility, rich functionality, and great support," said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, President and COO of MWH Soft. "Our impeccable reputation in the market and great customer satisfaction rate prove weve delivered superior, industry-leading tools that help users do their jobs better and faster, at maximum savings. Were pleased that leading water companies like MWRA are choosing our software. Our goal will always be to provide our customers with solutions that produce the ultimate modeling experience."
