One Man's Effort to Enact Change Results in Factual Bush Resume

Career educator looks at the Bush record from a data oriented perspective and develops a resume for George W. Bush.

BROOKTONDALE, NY (PRWEB) September 6, 2004 -- John Fracchia describes himself as a frustrated optimist. Concerned by the direction, in which the country was heading and his feeling that the Bush campaign was shaping the Presidential Election on emotional rather than factual issues, he decided to take action. "I became concerned that the emotionalism of issues such as Iraq, Gay Marriage and the War on Terror, were setting the agenda," he said. "I wanted to help reshape the debate."

And so the career services educator began several months of research to assess the Bush record over the course of his career. He scoured governmental reports and selected news sources in an attempt to identify factual data. The result was a resume that Fracchia says illustrates the Bush record in a way that is devoid of emotionalism. "It's important when developing a resume that it be based on facts. I tell my students this all the time. What I attempted to do was examine the Bush record from this perspective in order to see what the data suggested. And it was eye opening." So much in fact that he decided he needed to share it.

On July 14, 2004, Fracchia launched his web site, Bush-Resume.net . Visitors to the site can view the resume which utilizes sources such as; the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Census Bureau, the official White House web site, the National Center for Educational Statistics, CNN, and the Washington Post.

With the web site launched, Fracchia began phase two of his efforts. "I wanted to get this information out to as many people as possible," he said. "So I began outreach efforts to Democratic Party County Chairs across the country." The efforts have been fruitful. "I've received so many messages of encouragement from hardworking people all over the country. It's been very empowering." But it has been frustrating too. "It's a time intensive process and unfortunately, not all of the information is current. It's disappointing in an election year where so much is at stake to find that state parties are not keeping their web sites current." Still his efforts have brought over 1,200 visitors to Bush-Resume.net.

With less than sixty days remaining in the election, he plans to continue his efforts. "I know that this has a Quixotesque element to it. But if the 2000 election taught me anything, it's that each person makes a difference. If I can influence one person with this effort, then it's really worth it."
