Clymer: I Will Back Bush on Key Issues When Specter Will Not!"
Clymer Stands with Bush on Tort Reform, Judges, Taxes, Marriage and Social Security
LANCASTER, PA (PRWEB) September 7, 2004 -- Constitution Party U.S. Senate candidate Jim Clymer said today that as U.S. Senator he will support President Bush when he is right but oppose him when he is wrong.
Clymer contrasted his position with that of liberal incumbent Arlen Specter who more often than not opposes the President when he is right and supports him when he is wrong."
On cutting taxes, President Bush and I want more tax cuts. Arlen Specter is one of those so-called 'moderates who wants more government spending," said Clymer.
On protecting marriage, President Bush and I want to protect marriage by removing federal court jurisdiction over marriage cases. Arlen Specter supports same-sex marriages and said he would vote against President Bush on this issue."
On tort reform, I will be a Senate leader against the powerful Trial Lawyers Association in support of Tort Reform. Specter has received the Trial Lawyers endorsement in every election hes run in, and has helped lead the fight against malpractice and product liability reform," noted Clymer.
On federal judges, no one Republican has done more damage to conservative judges appointed by President Bush than Arlen Specter. As Pennsylvanias Senator, I will stand with Senator Santorum on bringing back balance to our federal courts and not with John Kerry, Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton, as has Arlen Specter."
And on allowing individuals to invest part of their Social Security taxes in the stock market, I will be a champion for workers rights against government bureaucrats. Arlen Specter has been in Washington for nearly a quarter century and done nothing about this except vote for higher Social Security taxes."
Clymer said that he disagrees with President Bush, however, on a number of issues. I disagree with his proposals to expand the federal governments role in education and health care, particularly plans to increase funding to local community colleges and expand the so-called 'KidCare program."
Clymer also said that as Senator he would vote against the Presidents proposed Opportunity Zones" which would reduce taxes in depressed areas while putting other areas not targeted in this manner at a disadvantage. We need to make our entire nation an opportunity zone, and that doesnt happen when the Federal Government begins determining the winners and losers," Clymer said. This needs to be left to the free market."
President Bush said he seeks in a second term to restrain federal spending, reduce regulations and make tax relief permanent. My election as Senator will send the nation a message that these goals must be achieved and I will do that as U.S. Senator," Clymer said.
Its becoming clearer and clearer every day that President Bush is pulling ahead in this race," Clymer noted. Should this happen, I look forward to help him make good on the promise to put taxpayers first, bring balance back to our courts, defend marriage and protect our Constitution."
