The Second Annual CINEME International Animation Festival Turns up the Heat in Chicago, September 24-26

CINEME announces the CINEME International Animation Festival in Chicago, September 24-26, 2004. The three-day festivities include film screenings, an opening-night charity benefit, The Mother of all Halo Tournaments," a leading-industries Expo and much more.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) September 7, 2004 -- The second annual CINEME International Animation Festival turns up the heat in Chicago, September 24-26. The three-day extravaganza will begin with film screenings at the Illinois Institute of Art, located at Chicagos Merchandise Mart. Over 2,400 submissions were received from around the globe in categories ranging from gaming to web, student to professional and architecture to film. Only 75 of these will be competing for the coveted Oz Award. Additional presentations include the world premiere of Dead Leaves" by Manga Entertainment and a sneak peak at Nickelodeons newest show, Avatar," presented by director of development, Peter Gal.

A schedule of the CINEME International Animation Festival:

*Opening Night Charity Benefit, Friday, September 24, 2004
Immediately after the screenings at 8 p.m., CINEMEs Opening Night Charity Benefit will begin at Kaleidoscope, located at 800 West Superior Street. The proceeds from the event will go to benefit G.R.E.E.N. (Global Resources Educating for the Environment and Nature), an organization dedicated to education and conservation of the planet through the preservation of endangered tigers. The event will include entertainment provided by Boomshaka, a rhythm and dance group; a retrospective of the "Lord of the Rings" by its Oscar-winning Director of Animation, Randall Cook from Weta Digital; a gourmet reception sponsored by Chicagos own Elegant Edge and a bar provided by Bacardi.

*Video Game Developers Summit, Saturday, September 25, 2004
To highlight the explosive growth in the gaming industry, CINEME 2004 has partnered with the International Game Developers Association to create the Midwest's first Video Game Developers Summit. More than 50 leading minds, CEOs and chief creative officers will speak on six different subjects from art and audio to business and programming for the gaming industry.

*HALO Tournament at DePaul University, September 25 and 26, 2004
CINEME is proud to bring The Mother of all Halo Tournaments" to Chicago. In partnership with the Associates of Gaming Professionals (AGP), the event, located at the DePaul Center at 1 East Jackson, will present $20,000 in cash prizes and product giveaways.

*CINEME EXPO, September 24 and 25, 2004
On both Friday and Saturday, visitors can experience today's latest and greatest technologies and glimpse of the marvels that lie ahead at the CINEME Expo. Our exhibitor list is made up of some of the hottest companies and biggest names in their respective industries. Participants represented include cutting-edge animation devices, screaming-fast workstations and everything in between.

*Closing Night Gala, Sunday, September 26, 2004
The CINEME festivities culminate on Sunday night at the Closing Night Gala located in Kaleidoscopes elegant courtyard. Led by stellar Chicago stand-up professionals, the awards ceremony will feature the winners of the Halo Tournament and the CINEME screen competition, giving the audience a taste of the best of CINEME 2004. The Gala Reception will follow in an event not to be missed.
