Npower customers are set to pay up to Â£100* per year more for their gas and electricity following price changes announced today, according to independent comparison and switching service http://www.uSwitch.com.
NpowerÂs price rise is their second this year, and means that customers are now paying up to Â£130* more than last year for their gas and electricity, with customers in the London and Seeboard regions worst hit
Â· Medium usage (gas: 20,500, elec: 3,300) dual fuel customers (paying by standard credit) can expect bills to rise by 9.8 per cent or Â£60 per year.
Â· High usage (gas: 28,000, elec: 4,950) dual fuel customers (paying by standard credit) can expect bills to rise by 9.5 per cent or Â£79 per year.
Â· Londoners are the worst hit with gas bills rising by an average 12.6 per cent (or Â£42.49 per year) and electricity bills rising by 11.7 per cent (or Â£28.40).

ÂTodayÂs price rise represents the biggest one-off increase weÂve ever seen by Npower, and the second highest increase so far this year. Faced with such a significant price rise, this could be considered the Âlast strawÂ for Npower customers Â this is likely to have a significant impact on their business.
ÂLike British Gas, Npower is blaming a rise in wholesale prices for its latest round of increases. Whilst itÂs true that wholesale prices have increased, there is no consistency at the rate in which suppliers are increasing prices. And with Powergen and EDF only applying rises of between 3 Â 4 per cent, Npower has some serious explaining to do to justify these record rises to its customers.
Wolfenden continued: ÂOur advice to customers is to check the competitiveness of your supplier immediately, and look to offset rising costs now by switching away. If you remain with British Gas and your local electricity board, the likelihood is youÂre paying over 20 per cent more for your energy than you need to.Â
