Michael and Stacey Chandler of Chandler Internet Services launched multiple online career boards targeting Ventura County job seekers. The websites assist job seekers in finding local job opportunities and provide increased visibility of their resumes.

On Aug. 23, 2004, Stacey Chandler and her husband, Michael, launched SimiJobs.com, an online career board that targets job seekers in the city of Simi Valley and surrounding areas. As of this week, Jobs4Ventura.com has also gone live and serves job seekers in the western region of Ventura County.

"We’ve talked about doing this for at least a year," said Stacey, a marketing professional in the recruiting industry. "We always assumed it would be a matter of time before someone finally started this, but no one had. We figured it was up to us."

Stacey started her business less than a month ago and recruited Michael, who is also co-owner of 2Xtreme Media, a local web design and marketing firm, to produce the software that powers the career board.

"I couldn’t be more impressed with Stacey’s knowledge of the industry and her ability to clearly communicate the software requirements," Michael said. "Her guidance allowed us to produce a rock-solid system that both job seekers and employers will appreciate."

The job boards are fully functional tools for job seekers and employers alike. Those who log in as recruiters can browse resumes online, personalize their job posts with their company logo and actually view applications for their job postings online in a "recruiters control panel."

The Chandlers' job network consists of two databases, one for the eastern segment of Ventura County and another for the western segment of the county. One of the most compelling features for recruiters is that job ads that are posted to one regional database are viewable on multiple job boards for added visibility. For example, when a recuiter posts a job on SimiJobs.com, that same ad is seen by job seekers who browse MoorparkJobs.com and ConejoJobs.com.

"When a job ad is posted to 'Simi' it appears on 'Moorpark' and 'Conejo' at no additional cost," Stacey said. "The idea is to get the most exposure for your available opportunities without spending a fortune."

To celebrate the official launch of the system, employers are invited to log in to the system and post their jobs at no cost for a limited time. An advertising campaign for the new job boards has begun and is intended to bring many of the local job seekers to the websites.
