Darim Introduces H.264 Encoding for their MV401EXP for Under € 8,000
Darim Visions Windows Media 9 and H.264 Encoder Includes
Pre-filtering Technology for Outstanding Quality at Significantly Improved Bit Rates
Pleasanton, CA (PRWEB) September 11, 2004 -- Darim Vision (www.darim.com), a leading provider of integrated MPEG Encoding, Streaming, Broadcasting, and Security Solutions, announced today it will Introduce a new version of its MV401EXP at the upcoming IBC Exhibition September 10th, 2004. This new version adds H.264 capability to its standalone MV401EXP Windows® Media 9 Encoding and Streaming solution for both NTSC and PAL formats. Darim will display its H.264 encoding solution at booth 8.321 Hall 8.
Utilizing embedded system technology, the MV401EXP reliably encodes live video and audio into web-ready, compressed streaming video in either Windows Media 9 format at up to full D1 resolution or H.264 (MPEG4 part 10) compression also at up to D1 resolution. The new H.264 version allows video compression at bit rates of less than half of that required of MPEG2 at an equivalent resolution. With the MV401EXP, video on demand can be achieved at 720x480 in NTSC at 30 fps and 720x576 in PAL at 25 fps. Once the MV401EXP is powered up, it automatically begins to stream video and audio.
The MV401EXP is a standalone 1U rack-mountable unit. All control parameters are accessible over a network via either one gigabit Ethernet or 100 megabit connection. All video compression and AAC audio compression parameters as well as streaming settings can be determined using the systems network interface. Using the network access, a single operator can control several video sources connected to the network. With two network connections, the one gigabit connection can be dedicated to streaming while the 100 megabit network connection can be used for the IBMI hardware control interface.
Several features are built-in to the MV401EXP to anticipate and address problems to ensure it will consistently perform to the highest standards. One important aide to unattended operation is the use of IPMI hardware management. IPMI technology will constantly monitor the unit for heat build-up and other potential problems that can affect the systems performance. In addition, the Watchdog function regular surveys the system to detect error conditions such as a power failure and automatically reboots the system if needed based on the last saved settings. Streaming will then recommence as if nothing has happened. Reliability is further enhanced through the usage of flash memory.
In either Windows Media 9 or H.264 MPEG4 standards, the MV401EXP can accept both analog and digital video signals. Analog video inputs include component, s-video and composite and digital video SDI. An additional audio and video out connection are available for monitoring the encoder while in use. MV401EXP works with AES/EBU digital audio along with balanced audio signal input. .
"The addition of H.264 to our Windows Media 9 capability at under € 8,000 makes our MV401EXP a highly attractive solution for the streaming industry," said John Houston, vice-president of marketing for Darim. "The current version of our MV401EXP is highly reliable and we expect the H.264 feature to attract significant further interest in this product. The ability to handle whatever type of data is fed to the MV401EXP without any complaints by the system and its dependability make it the first choice for high traffic internet video providers. Based on solid-state design, the MV401EXP streams live video day after day."
The option to use either Windows Media 9 or H.264 provides greater flexibility. In Windows Media 9 mode, the system can be easily integrated with any Windows 2003 Media Server. While using H.264 provides low-latency video and audio streaming for use in applications where nearly real-time encoding and decoding is desired.
The onboard adaptive video noise reduction filer and de-interlacing hardware greatly enhances the video quality and helps eliminate problems that create compression artifacts. The one gigahertz Ethernet network connection enables the MV401EXP to deliver video over the internet at todays demanding speeds. Several simultaneous internet users can enjoy high quality video and audio delivered effortlessly to any web browser in either multicast or unicast modes. The MV401EXP provides the highest quality dual channel encoding for any video on demand server. Live logo and titling insertion is available as a standard feature.
