Photo Contest Helps Students Learn about the Americas

The second annual Discover America through Postcards" photo contest is an event established to help students learn about the Americas through postcards. Scenic views of any site in North, South or Central America, no matter how remote, are being sought. The image should capture the beauty, history or curiosity of an American location to inspire students to want to learn more about it. The Grand Prize is $100.

(PRWEB) September 12, 2004 -- Postcards from America," the popular postcard geography website is seeking photo submissions for its second annual Discover America through Postcards" photo contest, an event established to help students learn about the Americas through postcards. Scenic views of any site in North, South or Central America, no matter how remote, are being sought. The image should capture the beauty, history or curiosity of an American location to inspire students to want to learn more about it.

We wanted to open this up to everyone of all ages and all walks of life. Our hope is that it causes people, not just students, to think about the beauty and diversity of the Americas," said Ken Rhodes, co-publisher of the website. Photos can be taken miles from home or across the street, so long as it encourages viewers to want to know more about the area."

Four finalists will be selected based on originality, composition and technical execution. Each image will be made into a postcard featured on the Postcards from America website at PostcardsFrom.com, and emailed to the sites 25,000 subscribers who will vote on the winner. The grand prize is $100. Photo submissions can be color or black-and-white from either film or digital cameras, but must be accompanied by an entry form available at the Postcards from America website.
