New York, NY (PRWEB) September 12, 2004 -- James DelaVega,"Sidewalk Messiah," renowned street artist, muralist and social activist launches his Spring 2005 Clothing Collection for men and women.

The 32 year old East Harlem native has gained enormous popularity, not to mention an international reputation for making art on the street that emerged authentically from his community.

By applying his own singular urban images and accompanying poetic truisms to clothing , DeLaVega hopes to open a stirring dialog with a concerned public.

Showcasing his graphic, eclectic style, reverence for urban culture and commitment to civic responsibility. DeLaVega's message is to bring the conversation, or the revolution, to the individual consumer. The collection will be introduced in Los Vegas at the Magic trade show and consist of button puts, polo's, blazers, t-shirts, knits and accessories. True to DeLaVega's unique nature, expect to see his artwork displayed in the most unexpected fashion.

"DeLaVega will bring his thought provoking art, inspirational quotes and eclectic style to sportswear," said David Sierra, Vice president of the New York based company. "We've created a line that will appeal to the most diverse clientele."

"Like James who bridged the gap between Art and Graffiti, The Collection will bridge the gap between urban apparel and fashion," Sierra said.

In conjunction with focusing on product distribution, the start up company will execute marketing programs designed to drive traffic to its web site as well as retailers. Building the brand through guerrilla marketing will also prove a big part of company's success.

A portion of the proceeds of all sales will go to the causes the artist champions, among them The Rush Philanthropic Organization which seeks to bring art education for children from urban communities. "We realize that having good product is only the first step in forming a successful apparel company," said Sierra. Keeping true to the concept of DeLaVega, the power of art and the message of hope of a better tomorrow are important ingredients and cannot be forgotten.
