SAN MATEO, CA (PRWEB) September 15, 2004 -- Sensitron, Inc., a wireless healthcare innovations company, has signed an agreement with El Camino Hospital, in Mountain View, Calif., to implement its CareTrends Wireless Bridge in the 411-bed hospital.
The CareTrends system will enable medical staff to provide improved patient care efficiently through fast access to accurate data. The unique breakthrough system automatically captures and wirelessly transmits patient vital signs and other clinical data into the health facilitys clinical information systems.
The CareTrends Wireless Bridge system can cost-effectively reduce data entry redundancy and potential transcribing errors in most patient care environments," said Rajiv Jaluria, president and CEO of Sensitron. By implementing the CareTrends system, El Camino Hospital is demonstrating its leadership in improving patient care and reducing the staggering cost of healthcare in America. We look forward to implementing the CareTrends system throughout El Camino Hospital and developing a strong client reference for future marketing efforts."
Implementing CareTrends is a smart investment because it will help us improve patient treatment and safety, save money, and make El Camino Hospital more efficient," said Lee Domanico, CEO of El Camino Hospital. We embrace the use of technology to improve healthcare quality and look forward to working with Sensitron on this new initiative. El Camino Hospital is a forward-looking hospital and we believe the instant capture of vital signs will help provide all care givers with up-to-date patient information in making clinical decisions."
Device-Agnostic System Fulfills Healthcare Providers Demands
Sensitrons CareTrends Wireless Bridge enables a wide array of vital signs and other clinical data to be transmitted wirelessly, via secure encryption, to any existing server-based electronic patient record.
Sensitrons wireless bridge works with monitors from different manufacturers, including legacy systems, and is an integrated open system. With Sensitrons CareTrends system, potential errors in data transmission are reduced by dating and timing all data, which creates an effective audit trail. The system directly links point-of-care medical devices with clinical information systems, thus reducing staff time, clinical risk and allowing medical staff to maintain a higher standard of clinical care.
The CareTrends system supports numerous different applications for hospitals, clinics, nursing facilities and long-term care homes. The system also addresses healthcare providers needs, including immediate access to information and reduction in paperwork. Patients data and trends can be presented intra-hospital, inter-hospital, at a clinicians office, or via any web-based PDA or telephone.
Scalable System Uses Combination of Wireless Protocols
The CareTrends Wireless Bridge system uses a combination of wireless Bluetooth and 802.11b communications protocols for data transmission to a healthcare facilitys server. Sensitrons enterprise software in the server collects the readings and records results according to parameters set by the clinician before presenting data to caregivers. The system is modular enough to accommodate multiple locations with data communication customized per patient.
By combining vital signs data with other related clinical patient records, the clinician is armed with a complete view of the patients status, enabling him or her to make a better assessment of the patients overall health.
