Litchfield, CT (PRWEB) September 16, 2004 -- Squish, Splat, Squirt: Thats not the slogan for a new breakfast cereal. Its the sound of kids bare feet stomping grapes at The Litchfield Hills Harvest Festival.

Attracting thousands of visitors annually, the 13th annual festival will be Sept. 25-26, 11 am to 5 pm, at Haight Vineyard, the states oldest winery.

The childrens grape stomp has become one of the most popular features of our harvest celebration," said winemaker Col. Sherman P. Haight, Jr.

Youngsters will have the opportunity each day at 2 and 4 pm to compete in the grape stomping competition.

Parents recall the old-fashioned grape stomping from the 'I Love Lucy TV show" said Haight. They cant wait to take pictures of their kids stomping grapes in a wooden wine barrel."

Children of all ages can get a first-hand look at the grape harvest by taking a hayride through the vineyard. The two-day festival also features a country store, craft exhibitors, pony rides, winery tours with complimentary wine tasting, wine served by the glass and a menu of hearty harvest fare.

Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and children under age 12 admitted free. The festival is sponsored this year by the Waterbury Republican-American, WTIC News Talk 1080 and Home Comfort Now.
