Family Fitness Energized for Atlanta Festival
Fulton County Parks and Recreation of Georgia has announced the Fulton Fitness Fest, a free three-day festival full of healthy and fun activities for the whole family. John Culbreth, the Director of Fulton County Parks and Recreation Department, said, The Fitness Fest will allow us to create awareness about being physically active and help generate funds to support the growing demands on our parks." The Fulton Parks Foundation, a non-profit organization, supports over 47 neighborhood parks, youth and golf tennis camps, disabled youth programs, 35 playgrounds, 96 public tennis courts, a public golf course and five lakes.
Some of the planned activities for the Fulton Fitness Fest include a golf tournament, two tennis tournaments (one for adults and one for youth), and a Fitness and Wellness Village. There will be several celebrities at the festival, leading demonstrations and enjoying healthy activities.
The Lou Sobh Golf Tournament will take place at Wolf Creek Golf Course, which has been arranged for any skill-level golfer. There will be many free gifts and prizes given away throughout the tournament. Golf bags will be given away, and the first 100 players to register will receive a free pair of golf shoes. The first golfer to get a hole-in-one will be presented with the keys to a brand-new vehicle from Lou Sobh GMC.
Singles and Doubles teams can enter the Adult or Youth tennis tournaments. Fulton County Parks will showcase a celebrity tennis player, Donald Young Jr., who is the #1 ranked 15-year-old in the United States and who recently played in the French Open.
The Fitness and Wellness Village, where everything a family needs to Get Motivated, Get Moving, and Get Fit" is fun, easy, and all in the Georgia International Convention Center. The Fitness and Wellness Village features free health screenings for diabetes, high blood pressure, and much more. There will be expert demonstrations of yoga, Pilates, and the latest in fitness workouts, featuring World Champion Bodybuilder and the only eight-time Mr. Olympia, Lee Haney.
The Fitness and Wellness Village will showcase sports and fitness events like tai-chi, Double-Dutch jump roping, and demonstrations of the latest dance moves from line dancing to Chicago stepping". There will also be dozens of free exhibits from area hospitals, chiropractors, nutritionists and gyms throughout the Greater Atlanta Area.
