(PRWEB) September 18, 2004 -- Christian Slater may be about to lend his star power to the One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest" in the West End, but another play dealing with mental problems without any stars is opening at the Bridewell Theatre to coincide with World Mental Health Day on Sunday the 10th of October.
"Cosi" is a comedy written by Louis Nowra ("K19 Widowmaker", "Radiance", "Map of the Human Heart") about a group of mental patience in the 70s attempting to put on the opera Cosi Fan Tutte in a burnt out theatre.
Its just a fantastic, extremely funny play", says director Andrew Miller, youve got a guy who sets fire to cats, a junkie, a knife wielding romantic, a confused realist, a lithium addicted pianist who hates Mozart, and a stuttering ex-lawyer who refuses to take part in the production in a burnt out theatre trying to put on a complex opera... and succeeding."
The play was an enormous success when it was first performed with Ben Meldelsohn and Barry Otto and then went on to be made as an Australian film in 1996 with Toni Collette ("Muriels Wedding"), Rachel Griffiths ("Six Feet Under"), Colin Friels, Jacki Weaver and David Wenham ("Lord of The Rings") amongst many others.
