(PRWEB) September 18, 2004 -- Stephen Burrows Breezes onto the Runway at San Francisco International Fashion Week 2004

Stephen Burrows, fashion icon since 1970 and famous for the "lettuce edge" that is his signature hem, is breezing onto the West Coast runways with his Spring/Summer 2005 collection at San Francisco International Fashion Week (SFIFW) held October 21-23, 2004 at Pier 48 in San Francisco.

Recognized as the first African American fashion designer to achieve national and international fame among the fashion elite, Stephen Burrows continues to design clothes that skim the body, enhance the curves, and flow with rhythmic movement. Working with his signature palate of vibrant colors, his continued approach to cut, and modern silhouettes have kept him on the forefront of fashion and style. As a top designer for more than three decades Stephen has clothed beautiful dynamic women throughout the world. Kim Cattrall donned a Stephen Burrows tie front jacket in the opening episode of the final season of "Sex in the City". Just one of the many pieces she wore during the series. Vanessa L. Williams was perfection in a Stephen Burrows dress that he designed for her Broadway premier of "Into the Woods." Oprah Winfrey selected a Stephen Burrows signature "red" colored wrap merino wool dress for her O Magazine September 2004 issue.

Stephen Burrows’ distinguished career includes three American Fashion Critics’ Annual Coty Awards and was acknowledged by the American Fashion Industry with a star on Fashion Walk of fame in New York City on Seventh Avenue. The Spring Summer 2005 collection is an explosion of bright to hot colors, with prints on silk jersey and silk pebble chiffon, along with Stephen's trademark fabric Jasco matte jersey. "I worked with Curb Studio on my prints. I love the prints this season, the colors; we worked with three different prints, a brushstroke, a shard, and a graffiti motif. They all reflect my feelings about this collection. It's about the spring and summer breezes. The way the wind blows through a woman's hair, how it caresses the skin. The lightness of the fabrics", said Burrows.

SFIFW brings new opportunity for top designers, like Burrows, to show on the "Other Coast." SFIFW is San Francisco's first international fashion event and is strategically positioned between the Fashion Weeks in New York and Los Angeles. The show features exclusive fashion, top-notch entertainment, and spectacular pre- and post-show events. With strategic ties and alliances all over the world, San Francisco is the perfect connection point for designers, buyers, media, and international fashionistas.

The October debut of SFIFW highlights the Spring/Summer 2005 collections of designers from India, Russia, France, Asia and North America.
