Denise Turney: Multicultural Mystery Writer Featured at the First Annual Ogontz Avenue Blues, Books and Barbecue Festival

Multicultural author, Denise Turney, to appear at the First Annual Ogontz Avenue Blues, Books and Barbecue Festival in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 25, 2004. The event that is open to the community begins at 12 noon.

(PRWEB) September 23, 2004 -- In ever increasing demand, Denise Turney, who recently held feature radio interviews on ArtistFirst and Harambee, will appear at the First Annual Ogontz Avenue Blues, Books and Barbecue Festival in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Saturday, September 25. The festival, sponsored by Lifeline Music Coalition, is being held in the spirit of strengthening community, increasing education and promoting literacy. All residents and visitors to the Philadelphia area are encouraged to attend the event at 7152 Ogontz Avenue; the festival will begin at 12 noon and end at 6PM. I support efforts to educate and inspire a love of good books," Turney says. Author of the books Portia, Love Has Many Faces and Spiral, Turney adds, Lack of knowledge and only being able to relate at low-educational levels finds many children and adults trapped in the belief that they are small or insignificant. Positive steps that prove this mind-set wrong while also assisting the illiterate to learn to read at greater levels is a significant win for all communities and peoples around the globe."

In her efforts to encourage reading, education and literacy, not only does Turney travel and attend cultural and literary events, she also funds the Chistell Annual Writing Contest. Since the contest began four years ago, people from India, Europe, Africa, Canada, here in the United States and other parts of the world have entered the contest. Their stories are poignant and impossible to be ignored," Turney states. The ability to communicate, to read and understand what one is reading and writing is often taken for granted by everyone except the persons who are lacking these very skills," Turney concludes. Readers interested in learning more about this author may visit her online at -- http://www.chistell.com where she responds to visitor questions on how they too can become published writers and novelists.
