Old Bold Pilot's Club (OBPC) Re-Fly Airplane Adventures at Monthly Wednesday Meeting

Old Bold Pilots Club, a group of people who are mainly ex-military pilots, meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month to trade stories (some true), learn from each other, and experience the comradery of flying while having lunch.

(PRWEB) September 19, 2004 -- When you want share an aviation story where do you go to share it? Attending an aviation museum like Pearson Air Museum http://www.pearsonairmuseum.org allows you to share with others at random times but museum formats are usually a formal one person speaking presentation to an audience.

The Old Bold Pilots Club (OBPC) - "There are Old Pilots, there are Bold Pilots, but there are no Old Bold Pilots" - an old aviation truism, meet at the Sweetbriar Inn in Tualatin, Oregon on the 2nd Wednesday of each month to trade stories, learn history, and learn about aircraft while having lunch.

The aviators range from WW-II bomber and fighter pilots, some of whom also flew combat in Korea and Vietnam, test pilots, people who have worked on and designed aircraft, to those pilots whose most high tech aircraft they have flown is a Cessna 152.

Many attendees are people who like aviation and want to learn more. These people know much about about famous pilots, aircraft, and history but never earned a pilot's license.

All have one common interest: aviation, history, and willingness to share that knowledge with others.

The very informal group spends two hours from 12:15 till 2 PM or so having conversations about aircraft from WW-I to the latest aircraft in the air. Stories about engines on fire, shot out rudders, night navigation missions over Germany, technical details of equipment, to stories about comic happenings on military bases (and ships) fill the room - usually all at the same time.

There are no fees, no requirements to attend any gathering, or anything formal. Walk in, sit down, and start talking, listening, and having a good time over lunch is all that is required.

Any former or current military or civilian pilot, crewman, enthusiast, historian (there are a few historians who attend including some women), person interested in aviation are welcome to drop in. No parachute required.

Bob Malmstrom, rwmalmstrom@comcast.net, runs the local Portland area group is the POC to be contacted for details. Tom Philo, tom@taphilo.com http://www.taphilo.com/tom/ can also be contacted as an alternate.

The next meeting will be on October 13, 2004.
