HUAWEI LEADS 2nd QUARTER 2004 CARRIER GRADE VoIP SOFTSWITCH AND MEDIA GATEWAY SHIPMENTS

Bethesda, MD (PRWEB) September 23, 2004 -- According to DITTBERNER's Worldwide NGN Quarterly Shipments Analysis, Huawei leads the worldwide softswitch market in Q2 2004 with 28.7 percent of port shipments. Nortel was second with 16.8 percent market share. Sonus, Italtel and Siemens rounded out the top five vendors.

Huawei was the No. 1 vendor in the VoIP Media Gateway market as well with over 24 percent of port shipments, followed by Sonus with 16.6 percent market share.

The softswitch segment performed better than expected, and suggests that market conditions are improving," said Lilian Tau, Vice President and Principal Analyst for DAIs NGN Research Program.
