(PRWEB) September 24, 2004 -- The Boston Group (TBG), a leading provider of IT Solutions and Services, today announced that it has been selected by CARREFOUR, the worlds second largest retail chain, to execute simulated training content for its Supply Chain Management (SCM) software. The entire simulated training content development project, valued at S$1.5 million in revenues for TBG, was driven by the companys Singapore office.

The simulated training content aims to increase the consistency and effectiveness with which training is delivered to Carrefours employees to increase their proficiency levels in using the SCM software. This will also help in considerably reducing the time a new user currently takes to get certified on CARREFOURs mission-critical SCM system.

The training content will be developed in seven Asian languages including English, to be deployed and used by more than 20,000 users across CARREFOUR locations in Asia. The initial implementation of the project is being done at CARREFOUR in Thailand (run by Cencar Limited), and is expected to be rolled out through the region in the near future. Further development on the modules and translation into other regional languages such Bahasa, Chinese, Korean and Japanese will be done in Singapore.

According to an IDC report titled E-Learning in Asia/Pacific", the global market is expected to grow to US$233 million by 2005. The countries that will lead the e-learning industry in this region are Australia, Korea, China and Singapore, with e-learning adoption in Asia/Pacific experiencing the greatest growth between 2004 and 2005. This will be driven by a level of maturity in the market, where the benefits of e-learning are understood and e-learning is found to be a major part of the corporations long-term strategic objectives, as opposed to being an isolated human resource function or a lofty concept.

We are delighted at this development. The CARREFOUR contract means a lot to us as we are actively working on consolidating our customized content development services across the globe. Being chosen by CARREFOUR soon after our project with Bank Mandiri, Indonesia, for developing customized simulated content for their critical applications, is a reaffirmation of the market confidence in TBGs ability to provide world-class content services with compelling price/performance ratios. TBG had adopted a radically different approach to address the business needs of CARREFOUR, a fact appreciated by the CARREFOUR project team, and this was the differentiating factor, in addition to the technology experience and expertise that we brought to the table," says Mohan Krishna Jonna, President of The Boston Group.

Subu Kota, CEO and Chairman, The Boston Group, added, TBG is privileged to have CARREFOUR as its client and this will provide TBG the much needed impetus in expanding our operations in the Asia/Pacific region. TBGs recent wins in globally contested turnkey e-learning bids make us more confident of our ability to serve as a single point solution provider in the e-learning domain which includes the entire spectrum of technology and associated services."

TBG has a presence in six countries and serves clients in a broad range of industries, including pharmaceutical, financial, insurance, manufacturing, higher education, banking, and retail. Over the years, the consistent hallmarks of TBG have been quality of service, an intimate knowledge of a broad range of technologies, a delivery methodology for low-cost rapid implementation, and a team of highly-skilled professionals with expertise in numerous vertical industries.
