Howard Dean & Democracy For America Raise $220,000 Online for Tom Daschle's Campaign in 72 Hours; Dems Offer Online Fundraising for Socially Progressive and Fiscally Responsible Candidates

The request was repeated online through the Democracy for America website and blog. The response was over $220,000 in on-line, small dollar contributions to Senator Daschle in just 72 hours. Democracy for America wants to do the same for another United States Senate candidate. This week Democracy for America is hosting an online vote to determine which Senate candidates receive the next appeal from Governor Dean.

BURLINGTON, VT (PRWEB) September 24, 2004 -- Earlier this month Governor Howard Dean emailed Democracy for America supporters urging them to donate to Democratic Leader Tom Daschle's campaign. The request was repeated online through the Democracy for America website and blog. The response was over $220,000 in on-line, small dollar contributions to Senator Daschle in just 3 days.

Democracy for America wants to do the same for another United States Senate candidate.

This week Democracy for America is hosting an online vote to determine which Senate candidates receive the next appeal from Governor Dean. The incumbent and the challenger with the most votes at the end of balloting will win a national email appeal from Governor Dean and Democracy for America.

Howard Dean's fundraising appeals were published online via www.democracyforamerica.com and www.blogforamerica.com .

Walker Waugh, Democracy for America spokesman, said, "This is an easy way for a campaign to gain national exposure, recruit on-line activists and raise much needed resources for the final weeks of the campaign."

The voting will take place online. Voting will last for five days and is open to all visitors to www.democracyforamerica.com. Safeguards will be in place to assure one person-one vote. Governor Dean's email appeal will be sent to supporters on behalf of the top incumbent and challenger during the week of September 27th.
