Dad Writes Book On Sex & Love For Teenage Son!

The sex talk is one of the scariest conversations a parent ever has to give. Many parents fear that any discussion might encourage their children to be sexual. Those that choose to begin the dialogue often have little idea where to start. Howard B. Schiffer like many boomer parents faced the same dilemma when his son was coming of age. He said recently; I realized that if I didnt educate my son, the culture would and the idea of him getting all of his information about women from his friends, the internet and the media just wasnt acceptable." His one hour discussion with his son ended up taking six months. Schiffer turned his experience into a book; How To Be The Best Lover -- A Guide For Teenage Boys". Now Best Lover" has been drawing rave reviews from educators around the country who are calling it a major breakthrough in sex education for teens.

Santa Barbara, CA (PRWEB) September 27, 2004 -- When Howard B. Schiffers son was graduating from a small private school to a large public high school, he came up with a list of things he felt he needed to cover including drugs, smoking, drinking, and yes, sex. The surprising thing was that the first three were relatively easy, things didnt come to a standstill until he got to 'The Sex Talk. I was shocked" says Schiffer, I kept thinking, I went through the sixties, why is this such a big deal". But it was and after watching six months go by and talking with scores of other parents who also were facing the same dilemma, Schiffer realized a book was needed.

The irony here was striking" Schiffer noted. From drivers education to school tutors to special coaching, conscientious parents ensure that their kids are informed, prepared and able to feel good about themselves, no matter what the goal. Yet kids are often left on their own when it comes to relationships and sexuality, two areas likely to be central to their happiness.

Finally, teenage boys have a contemporary book about sex and intimacy written especially for them. How To Be The Best Lover: A Guide for Teenage Boys is a sensitive and comprehensive book that introduces teenagers to the heart of relationship; communication and connection. Written by Howard B. Schiffer, an author, parent, lecturer and workshop leader, How To Be The Best Lover helps teenage boys navigate the unique territory between boyhood and manhood with integrity and pride.

Many parents today are caught between the positions of 'just say no and 'they already know," Schiffer says. But what could a fourteen year old know? The mechanics maybe, some physiology perhaps but its all surface stuff." But what about the importance of becoming vulnerable, or talking or laughing or being considerate? Arent those are the real qualities of being the best lover? Instead of taking the opportunity to open a new level of communication with their teen, many parents are stopped by their own fears and embarrassment. I wrote this book to open the door for parents and teenagers to view this as an incredible opportunity to gain connection, credibility, and safety.

Schiffer was inspired to write How To Be The Best Lover by the rewarding experience of talking with his own son about sex and relationships. A former midwife who studied with founders of the home birth movement, Schiffer is also a founding member of the Santa Barbara Mens Community and the founder and executive director of Vitamin Angel Alliance, a nonprofit humanitarian organization. Lover is his third book.
Parenting experts have applauded the publication of How To Be The Best Lover. Who before has ever dared to tell teenage boys the deep truth about lovemaking?" asks Peggy OMara, editor-in-chief of Mothering magazine. [Howard Schiffers courage breaks down stereotypes and provides real information that inspires individuals, strengthens relationships and protects families." Dawna Markova, Ph.D., author of How Your Child is Smart and Random Acts of Kindness, says, This book is not only a gift to every teenage boy on the planet, it is also a gift to their parents and every person they will love."

How To Be The Best Lover: A Guide For Teenage Boys is published by Heartful Loving Press, PO Box 30041, Santa Barbara, CA 93130, at a hardcover price of $19.95.
