"Journeys Inward" Series of Workshops Focuses on Inner Self

Applied Theatre Artist Katherine Burke, Jungian Analyst Donnamarie Flanagan, and Waterstone Bridges founder Mary Pilat lead a series of three workshops at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis this fall and winter.

LAFAYETTE, IN (PRWEB) September 26, 2004 -- This fall and winter a series of three day-long workshops focusing on the inner self will be held at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis. The series, entitled Journeys Inward," will employ experiential activities and individual reflection, to focus on archetypal themes with the purpose of enhancing personal and spiritual development.

At this holiday time of year when home, family, celebration, and renewal are foremost in peoples minds, these workshops are aimed at reenergizing the creative spirit in everyone. Artists, social workers, educators, spiritual directors, parents, and others will be given the opportunity to take a break from the stress and chaos of the season to reflect on themes of home, pilgrimage, dreams, and rebirth.

Leading the workshops will be Katherine Burke, Director of InterPlay: Interactive Theatre for Dialogue; Donnamarie Flanagan, Diplomate Jungian Analyst; and Mary Pilat, founder of Waterstone Bridges.

The Pilgrimage Home" is the first event of the series, held on November 13, 2004. Explore the many levels of meaning evoked by the imagery of the journey home at this time of year when many people travel home to be with family. Through experiential learning activities, the meaning of pilgrimage" and home" will be viewed from various perspectives, providing the participant an opportunity for personal growth.

Then explore the significance of dreams with The Theatre of Dreams" on December 11, 2004. Our dreams are portals to the self," says Donnamarie Flanagan, and the characters in our dreams play in the drama of ordinary life." Participants will examine their dreams using theatre, movement, and storytelling. Theatre exercises are ideal for exploring dreams," says Katherine Burke. In theatre, anything is possible." In a safe and nurturing environment, through individual reflection and group collaboration, participants will increase their understanding of personal challenges and relationships, bringing the message of the night into the day.

Finally, begin 2005 with Unveiling the New Year" on January 15. Just as artists unveil the canvases of their work, participants will unveil their own lives work through an exploration of the meaning of veiling" in their own lives. The picture on the canvas develops through a series of applications of color. So too the choices and events of our lives can be compared to the artists paint. The artist applies layers of color to the canvas; likewise we apply layers of meaning to our lives," says Mary Pilat. In this workshop, through a series of activities and reflections, participants begin to unveil the depth of meaning in their lives.
