Hsin Tien, Taiwan (PRWEB) September 28, 2004 -- PDC Power Digital Card Co., Ltd) announces to enter into mass production stage for the latest memory card technologies specified by the MultiMediaCard Association. The two memory card lines, MMCplus and MMCmobile will allow consumers to enjoy new selections on what will be the fastest memory cards available in the market place.

PDCs MMCplus and MMCmobile products will have new multiple bus width features and clock frequencies targeted to allow transfer speeds to reach up to 52Mbyte/second, more than 4 times the speed of a high speed Secure Digital Card. The new products will be backwards compatible to the standard MultiMediaCard, Reduce Sized MultiMediaCard, and majority of the Secure Digital Card devices. Dual voltage functions in MMCmobile will allow handset manufacturers and end users to prolong battery life in handheld devices. MMCplus has a dimension of 24mm x 32mm x 1.4mm and MMCmobile a dimension of 24mm x 18mm x 1.4mm, in line with MMC/RS-MMC.

According to Wells Lin, Vice President of PDC, We have completed all the necessary steps for mass production of MMCplus and MMCmobile products. Initial output volume of these two new product lines in Q3 will be targeted at 1.5 million cards per month with capacity ramp to exceed 6 million card per month before end of 2004. The specifications of MMCplus and MMCmobile make these products to be the best performing card types available. The open standards policy of MMCA has allowed member companies to contribute their technologies to perfect the MMC standard."

According to Nelson Terng, S.A. to President of PDC, We are seeing a lot of device manufacturers designing in MMCplus and MMCmobile technology. The high speed and low power consumption uniqueness has made the standard irresistible to device designers. We expect to see a lot of devices coming out in Q4 that will adapt the MMCplus and MMCmobile standards. It is also expected that majority of the Secure Digital Card devices will start to upgrade their original support of MultiMediaCard/RS-MMC to include MMCplus and MMCmobile."
