Cambridge Author Not Afraid of Controversy
Simon Taylor provides a defiant look at how society copes with moral hypocrisy in his debut novel Johns Book, to be released November 27, 2004.
Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) September 27, 2004 -- John's Book describes the life of Father John Levy, a tormented man with a shocking confession. Spreading doubt and confusion from Boston to Rome, Levy turns himself in to authorities for murdering a fellow priest and long time friend, Father Matthew Spencer.
Told through the eyes of Dr. Abe Martin, a self-deprecating psychologist charged with evaluating Father John before trial, John's Book illustrates the lengths to which man will go to free himself from inner turmoil and the conflict that arises from failing to take responsibility for ones own actions. Taylors novel is both thought provoking and unique, holding readers captive with its vivid description of these two troubled men, each of whom is locked in a fierce struggle to overcome their inner-demons while fighting to preserve their own identities.
Johns Book further differentiates itself by providing a second narrator with an entirely different perspective. Father Johns own journal entries are incorporated throughout the novel, giving the reader a clearer understanding of their main character. These personal accounts allow the story to come to life as we learn not only about the John Levy of today, but also about his checkered, yet colorful past. Taylors surprising first novel is a moving account of a character so consumed by his own problems that he finds it difficult to differentiate between the reality of his life, and the fantasy in which he keeps himself hidden.
An unlikely addition to the Cambridge writing community, Simon Jonathan Taylor began writing seriously after taking time off from the Boston Investment firm where he worked. Only intending to finish his college education, Simon never expected that, at 24 years old, he was to become a signed author, awaiting publication of his first novel. Explaining why he first began writing he says, It was something I knew I could do, and so I thought...why not?" Mr. Taylors foray into writing soon led to a full length book soon to be made available at Amazon, Barnes and Nobles and through his publisher via their website at www.PublishAmerica.com.
