Alliance Unites Renowned Industry Photography Labs. Clients include Actors, Commercial and Fashion Photographers, Studios. Creates New Leader in Film Processing and Digital Image Workflow

Isgo Lepejian Custom Photo Lab, renowned for its actor and studio clientele, and A&I Photographic & Digital Lab, legendary home of commercial, fashion and fine art photographers today announced that Isgo had acquired the Hollywood-based A&I. The new alliance unites the widely recognized industry leaders in digital post production, fine art, large graphic and headshot photographic processing and printing under one parent organization, with a combined total of 150 employees and five Los Angeles area locations. Both companies are to retain their own names and separate operational identities.

“David Alexander and James Ishihara have built an organization renowned for its legendary quality, service and clientele, and we are proud to partner with them,” said Baret Lepejian, son of company founder Isgo Lepejian. “A&I will continue its dedicated commitment to the professional photography community. Operationally, their clients can expect the same talented staff to provide A&I’s high-quality standard across all services. Our relationship is built upon more than 25 years of mutual professional respect, with 63 years of collective experience in image processing. This alliance further strengthens both companies to take on even greater industry leadership in the years ahead. The future of this business lies in our ability to both archive and manage image workflow for our customers.”

“We work in an industry undergoing rapid changes in the way pictures are made, stored, managed, printed and delivered,” said Alexander, A&I co-founder and famed photographer, noted for such celebrity clients as John Belushi, the Eagles’ Hotel California album cover and the first The Terminator poster. “Baret and his brother Vic bring the fresh energy, vision and deep industry experience necessary to take A&I to the next era of laboratory services, whether images originate on film or digital. This move will make A&I stronger in every aspect. I’m confident that the consolidation of talent and team synergy between our two organizations will create the highest quality and most advanced level of services available in the industry.”

Baret Lepejian and brother Vic will manage day-to-day operations of both companies. Alexander is to remain actively involved as a creative and visionary leader, while A&I general manager Jim Ostermann focuses on business development and corporate clients. Ish, although semi-retired, will remain involved in the company.

All current Isgo Lepejian and A&I lab locations in Burbank, Hollywood and Santa Monica are to remain open. A&I/xibit, A&I's black and white fine art laboratory services on La Brea, will relocate operations to the main A&I Sycamore Avenue location in Hollywood just a few blocks away, and be physically integrated into A&I's other services for customer convenience. The move includes A&I’s respected B&W fine art printer Michel Karman, who recently won the International Photography Award (IPA) for Printer of the Year/Lab of the Year. A&I’s Santa Monica location will remain and soon add the same state-of-the-art digital services to the Westside photography community now offered by A&I in Hollywood.

Founded in 1969, Burbank-based Isgo Lepejian began operations as a master printer of fine art photography. Over the decades, it developed into the number one lab for actor “head shots” in Los Angeles while maintaining its leadership in digital technology trends. It was the first professional lab in California to buy a Frontier digital mini-lab machine. In 1999, Isgo purchased PIC COLOR Labs, a former Burbank aerospace industry transparency shop founded in 1948, and turned it into PIC Digital Color, one of the area’s leading large display graphic labs for such clients as ABC, DIC and KINKO’S. Isgo has also developed a company called Photodeco, which offers customizable and mounted photography for home and business locations.

David Alexander and then lab manager/technician Ish founded A&I 28 years ago in Hollywood hoping to create a high quality, professional photographer-oriented E6 laboratory.

Using Alexander’s celebrity and entertainment clients as a base, the company soon attracted legendary advertising, celebrity, fashion and editorial photographers. Today, A&I is renowned locally and nationwide for setting the standard in world-class color and B&W photographic processing, printing and digital imaging innovation.

Burbank, CA-headquartered Isgo Lepejian Custom Color Lab is a leader in image processing and digital trends. The 150-employee company provides world class, fine art photographic printing and processing, actor head shots, large display graphics, off set printing, online image communication, web site design and custom stock photos for home and business use via four business units -- A&I Photographic & Digital Services, Isgo Photo, PIC Digital Color, and Photodeco -- located in Burbank, Hollywood and Santa Monica.
