The Turtle Creek Chorale presents Classical Serenade," the third concert of the 2003-2004 Subscription series. We will perform classical works such as Deh Vieni alla finestra (Serenade) by W. A. Mozart, A Choral Fanfare by John Rutter and many others. The Chorale will perform the world premiere of Serenade of Life by composer J. Granville Eakin the third. (PRWEB) January 23, 2004 --The award-winning Turtle Creek Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Timothy G. Seelig, presents its third set of concerts in the 2003-2004 subscription series on Sunday, March 21, and Wednesday, March 24, at 8 p.m. in the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center.
Classical Serenade will feature serenades from composers spanning the past 200 years. The music explores and celebrates lifes voyage and runs the gamut from Mozart, Brahms and Schubert to current composers Arvo Part and Morten Lauridsen.
The feature of evening is the world premiere of Serenade of Life, a seven-movement piece by composer in residence J. Granville Eakin III. This sweeping masterpiece will take listeners on a musical journey beginning with the first lullaby and ending with the final requiem. The work will be recorded on CD and form the background for a documentary in the works about the Turtle Creek Chorale. The chorus will also present the work in Montreal this summer.
In addition to the world premier, the Turtle Creek Chorale presents the debut of its newest ensemble, One Achord. Also directed by Dr. Seelig, One Achord is an eighty voice mixed chorus in its first year of existence. Among One Achords offerings will be Joseph Martins The Living Song, Morten Lauridsens O Nata Lux and Rob Landes No Words.
Classical Serenade presents the finest classical choral music the Turtle Creek Chorale can present. The composers offer an incredible range of musical styles and the chorus will sing in 6 languages. J. Granville Eakin III is one of the finest young composers in the country. Every rehearsal, we find ourselves falling more in love with the music." Says Artistic Director, Dr. Seelig.
