The current penetration of ePrescribing services is very low in all surveyed countries

Research and Markets have announced the addition of the ‘Physician Insight Survey: 2003 Survey Results Overview’ report to their offering.

(PRWEB) January 15, 2004

Work-related Internet use is increasing among physicians in Europe and the US. While searching for health information online is an established practice among physicians, pharmaceutical companies must ensure the information they provide is user-friendly for physicians who have limited time. This PowerPoint trend analysis pack identifies the large growth potential for online tools.

Scope

Presents the results of 470 interviews with physicians in Europe and the US regarding information requirements and online behavior

Provides analysis of physicians’ attitudes towards their respective prescribing systems and the implementation of ePrescribing

Compares the penetration of practice websites across countries and provides physicians’ attitudes towards online patient monitoring

Compares physicians’ opinion of CME across countries and presents physicians’ opinion of eCME and the differences between on- and offline information

Report Highlights

The current penetration of ePrescribing services is very low in all surveyed countries. There is a high demand, with more than 50% of physicians in Germany, Spain, the UK and the US stating that they would like to use ePrescribing in the future. Physicians believe ePrescribing would improve the quality, cost and security of the prescribing process.

Across all surveyed countries, 55% of physicians believe that the number of patient requests for specific online services has increased in the last three years. The most commonly requested service is for patients to be able to email their physician. This may be possible through practice websites although ownership of these sites is currently low.

On average, US physicians participate in continuing medical education (CME) courses more frequently than European physicians. In addition, over 60% of surveyed physicians in the US have participated in an online CME program. However, less than one in five French and Spanish physicians have participated in such programs.

This report is designed to:

Understand physician information requirements in the major pharmaceutical markets and through which channels to reach physicians

Understand the current and prospective eHealth markets in Europe and the US and identify the key opportunities for your company

Reach physicians through the different eHealth initiatives by knowing and addressing the online requirements of each country
