Forgotten Soldiers Outreach, Inc. Remembers the Soldiers

Setting all politics aside, our men and women are in Iraq, Korea, and other countries giving their time and lives. Forgotten Soldiers Outreach, Inc.'s goal is to encourage these soldiers.

(PRWEB) January 15, 2004 -- The Forgotten Soldiers Outreach was started in September of 2003 to help encourage our deployed United States Armed Service men and women, who unfortunately have been so long forgotten - thus the name Forgotten Soldiers" Outreach, Inc. They have just become Forgotten in the midst of life itself. Unfortunately, many of our military soldiers are becoming discouraged and have stopped hearing from their family members and loved ones. We become so accustomed to our freedom and everyday luxuries that we get caught up in our world and tend to forget what is happening in other parts of the world. Therefore, it is our responsibility to let the troops now that they are not forgotten".

The purpose is to inspire our troops in Iraq, Kuwait, Korea and Afghanistan by sending care packages and letters of encouragement as long as they are deployed.

Our goal is to continually encourage the men and women who are abroad fighting for our great nation. Our hope is to inspire hope, strength and courage while they are separated from loved ones and friends.

This outreach is committed to the American service men and women for as long as they are deployed.

We were initially inspired, by a friend's son, Sgt. Kristopher Knight, who is presently serving in Iraq in the 173rd Airborne. After hearing about the soldiers in the 173rd Airborne who were becoming extremely frustrated, discouraged, missing their loved ones and even questioning their purpose, we knew they had to do something to encourage these men and women.

We sent out emails to family and friends requesting supplies to send care packages to three individuals and many unnamed soldiers. The response for those wanting to help has been awesome. Teachers and schools joined in to collect items and write personal letters to the soldiers.

After the initial shipment, we started receiving emails and calls with the names of additional soldiers. The list has since grown to over 50 and is still growing.

We are proud to announce that the Forgotten Soldiers Outreach, Inc. volunteers have increased with several of the local Broward and Palm Beach County Schools, SACC Programs (after care programs), and local organizations participating. Donations of items and letters of encouragement are coming in on a daily basis.

Businesses are opening their doors to become a Drop off center for such items and letters. Our website, http://www.forgottensoldiers.org is now receiving emails from all over the country.

The website has a Dear Soldier" link that allows anyone to write a pre-formatted letter and it gets emailed to us. We print out the letter and package it with the care packages.

The most rewarding part of this outreach is the response from the recipients, our soldiers. They are overwhelmed and excited about what we are doing. They feel a connection and realize they are not forgotten. Not only do they appreciate their goodies", but the letters from the children and others are bringing smiles to their faces. The Soldier Speak" section includes some of their responses.

It is so important to remember our service personnel who are fighting for our country. So, visit the website and join us in reaching out to our wonderful troops. Lets pull together and support our Forgotten Soldiers!
Thank you.
