Kiss Domestic Violence Goodbye
The Haven Women's Outreach launches awareness campaign to STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness month.
(PRWEB) October 2, 2004 -- The Haven Women's Outreach Director, Kim Harris, is asking women across the nation to PUCKER UP, COLOR UP, and KISS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE GOODBYE!" during October's Domestic Violence Awareness month. This unprecedented Lipstick Marathon will support the organization's efforts to stop violence against women. Fifty percent of all profits will support the programs and services provided by The Haven Women's Outreach. "We are challenging women and men everywhere to show their support by visiting www.marykay.com/MsKHarris and purchasing a tube of lipstick for themselves, a friend, or in honor of someone lost due to domestic violence. "Pucker up, color up, and kiss domestic violence goodbye. Each order will receive a beautiful Green ribbon to wear" says Ms. Harris. "One in three women suffers at the hands of domestic violence. It could be your friend, your sister, maybe even you. 75% of women who leave their abusers are killed...we must do something to bring attention to the seriousness of this social dysfunction" she continues.
The Haven Womens Outreach started in January 2002 as a Dallas-based nonprofit. Training and economic development workshops have been offered to women throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Knowledge is not power unless it is applied with a specific plan. Our plans include a deliberate agenda to impact the lives of 300 women in 2005 by taking the necessary steps to ensure they are able to expand their income potential and improve their quality of life -- WOW! How empowering is that!? The needs of these women are great and, therefore, the plan must be greater", says Ms. Harris. Giving these women direction, knowledge, pearls of wisdom, and the intangibles that cant be expressed is what makes our program a success. They receive leadership, mentorship, and teaching from some of Dallas most prominent business men and women. And, with the consistent support of our volunteer program director, Hazel Anthony, our training sessions are paired with experts in the topic being taught", she continues.
The Haven Women's Outreach mission is to embrace, educate, and empower women who, through adverse circumstance, have been economically, emotionally, and socially displaced. The technology training, housing advocacy, community resources, and P.O.W.E.R. (People, Opportunities, Work, Education, and Resources) provide women an opportunity to elevate themselves to become their personal best.
