Pima Medical Institute, 1701 W. 72nd Avenue, Suite 130 in Denver has expanded its curriculum to include a Physical Therapist Assistant program and is currently interviewing prospective candidates for the next session of classes.

(PRWEB) October 2, 2004 -- Pima Medical Institute, 1701 W. 72nd Avenue, Suite 130 in Denver has expanded its curriculum to include a Physical Therapist Assistant program and is currently interviewing prospective candidates for the next session of classes. Due to the demand for employment in this area, those interested in this new, two-year Associates Degree program are encouraged to register immediately as it is expected to fill quickly.

We are seeing tremendous growth in rehabilitation services due to the growing elderly population, sports injuries, as well as the increase in the number of individuals with disabilities or limited function," said Sue Anderson, Campus director for the Denver vocational school. We encourage anyone interested in the program, as well as those who are employed in the occupational medical areas such as massage therapists, speech therapists, personal trainers and physical therapist aides to find out what we have to offer."

According to the U.S. Department of Labors Bureau of Statistics, employment of physical therapist assistants is expected to grow much faster than the average through the year 2012. Physical Therapist Assistants assist Registered Physical Therapists in patient procedures such as: exercise for increasing strength, endurance, coordination and range of motion; electrical stimulation to activate paralyzed muscles; instruction in carrying out everyday activities in the use of helping devices; and the application of massage, heat, cold, light, water or electricity to relieve pain or improve the condition of the muscle or skin.

PMI is one of the premier medical vocational schools in the western United States. The privately owned, nationally accredited school provides students with a well-rounded education embracing theoretical classroom studies, as well as on-site training at medical facilities that mirror the working environment they will pursue after graduation.

PMI has been educating students since 1972, with campuses in: Albuquerque, New Mexico; Chula Vista, CA; Mesa and Tucson, AZ; Las Vegas, NV, Seattle and Renton, WA, as well as Colorado Springs and Denver, CO.
