Use our HEADS for Stress Know More"

We often overlook simple stress relief strategies by not using our heads when we become stressed. Forty-three year old Mark McGregor learned the hard way. He has remarkably overcome death twice because of a failed heart. Eight years ago, at age thirty-five, Mark suffered a stress-induced heart attack. A year later, his overworked heart developed arrhythmia which resulted in cardiac sudden death. After emergency crews restarted Marks heart, he received an implanted cardio defibrillator (ICD). This is the same medical device that American Vice President Dick Cheney requires.

Today, as a result of his stress-induced heart attack, Mark is a motivational speaker who delivers keynote addresses and workshops across North America. Some of his clients include the Police Association of Ontario, California Fire Fighters Joint Apprenticeship Committee, and Humber College for their EAP- Employee Assistance Program conference. His Stress Know More- Lesson Learned the Hard Way program is one of his favorites. He suggests, 'We need to use our heads to know more about stress management."

For that particular reason, Mark developed an easy-to-use stress management system that makes us use our heads. Mark explains, The HEADS approach to know more about stress relief is simple and easy to remember. The HEADS acronym represents, H for humour, E for exercise, A for avoid, D for delegate, and S for seek."

Mark shares some examples for using our HEADS during stressful situations:
•Humour- Find everyday things to laugh about because laughter is the best medicine
•Exercise- Go for a brief walk and clear your mind
•Avoid- Disconnect from toxic people because their stress may become your stress
•Delegate- Successful people delegate because you cannot be everything to everyone
•Seek- Obtain professional help before stress totally overwhelms and consumes you.

Mark is hosting a Stress Know More public seminar on Saturday, November 27 at the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club on 555 Bay St. N. in Hamilton. Sponsorship for this event is available. For tickets and sponsorship opportunities, visit Marks Web site at www.speaKingofHearts.com or call (905) 679-9546.
