Palo Duro Records Brings Texas Duo Morrison-Williams On Board
Former Perfect Stranger founder Shayne Morrison launches new duo act with Clint Williams.
Austin, TX (PRWEB) October 4, 2004 -- Palo Duro Records is pleased to announce its signing of Texas-based country duo Morrison-Williams, featuring guitarist/vocalist Clint Williams and former Perfect Stranger bassist/vocalist Shayne Morrison. The pair are working on their self-penned, yet-to-be-named debut album, slated for January and featuring the first single, the upbeat My Girl Friday," set for radio release in November.
Morrison made his name as a founder of Perfect Stranger, which had an independent-label hit in 1994 with Vince Gill's "Ridin' the Rodeo" from its debut album, "You Have the Right to Remain Silent." The title track drew major-label interest, and the band signed with Curb Records in 1995. Curb re-released the record with additional tracks; that version spent more than 40 weeks charting on Billboard.
The Morrison-Williams sound has been described as progressive country. Theyll gladly wear that tag -- if strong, radio-friendly melodies featuring the occasional soulful guitar reference to the Allman Brothers, augmented by mandolin, fiddle, dobro and the singers tight harmonies, can be considered progressive.
We couldnt think of a better home for our new endeavor," says Morrison.
Chris Thomas, founder of 4-year-old Palo Duro Records says, Were so excited to have Morrison-Williams join our growing roster of top-notch artists. We know the rest of the world will appreciate them as much as we do."
Palo Duro Records' artists represent the best in country music with Texas spirit. They include TC Taylor, Ed Burleson and Eleven Hundred Springs, whose Bandwagon" album is currently #1 on XM Satellite Radio's X Country playlist, #5 on the Texas Music Chart and #18 on Radio & Records magazines Americana Top 30 Albums chart.
