SOBERJAM RESCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 30TH, 2004 (due to Hurricane Ivan) Second Annual SoberJam Celebrates Louisiana Recovery Day

SoberJam, the Nations Largest Recovery Based Event Supports Recovery of Nations Number One Public Health Problem

New Orleans, LA (PRWEB) October 3, 2004 -- SoberJam 2004 to be held October 30, 2004. Hurricane Ivans evacuations and threat to the City of New Orleans caused organizers to reschedule SoberJam 2004 from its original date of September 18, 2004.September is National Alcohol and other Drug Recovery Month. For the second year, SoberJam is uniting to recognize and celebrate recovery from alcohol and drug addictions in Louisiana, as function of National Recovery Month.

SoberJam is a state-wide celebration with a national following and draw. This year organizers expect to attract 15,000 people from across Louisiana to a day of entertainment, food, crafts, kids activities and a host of other festivities and support. The event will take place on Saturday, October 30th from 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. at Marconi Meadows in New Orleans City Park. October 30th has been designated as Louisiana Recovery Day through a special project coordinated by the WeRecover Foundation, a non-profit 501c3 organization national headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

WeRecover.org and HopeNetworks.org founded this all day, drug free, family event, held each year during National Recovery Month". SoberJam 2004 will feature two stages with all day music, a Health & Community Information Fair and Louisiana foods, crafts and much more. SoberJam entertainment will include performances by George Porter Jr., The Charmaine Neville Band, A Special Appearance of New Orleans Blues Review" (Henry Butler, Marva Wright, Luther Kent, Benny Turner, Vasti Jackson, Earl Smith ,Chucky C, Emcee, Tracy Griffin, Trumpet, Brian "Breeze" Cayolle) Timothea, Marva Wright, Betty Winn and the One-A-Chord Gospel Choir, Rockin Doopsie, Country Musician Chris Gray, Selfish Steam, Arnold Mitchem, Mary Lynn B, Red Dawn, D-Anthony, Sean Ward, , Commedian Felon OReilly and Greenhouse and others to be announced.

SoberJam is free and open to the public. National, State, and Local community service providers are encouraged to sign up for booth space. Transportation is available across Louisiana communities interested persons should contact their closest location of the State Office for Addictive Disorders, or contact WeRecover directly at 1. 888.472.0786. Healthcare providers have the opportunity to sponsor the event and feature a booth for $250.
