Rochester, NY (PRWEB) October 3, 2004 - The popular Rochester-based band, Atomic Swindlers, is set to begin the October launch of their debut CD, Coming Out Electric," at the 12th annual ImageOut Film and Video Festival. The Atomic Swindlers will help kick off ImageOut during the opening night party at Nasty Ds, 140 Alexander Street in Rochester on Friday, October 8th at 8:30pm. The band will also premiere their first music video, Float (my electric stargirl), an original animated piece directed by Joel Trussell, whos animated such musical groups as Devo and Madonna.

The Atomic Swindlers new CD, Coming Out Electric," is a concept piece that follows the wild trials and tribulations of a 23rd century sensual heroine. The music and lyrics are loaded with non-gender-judgmental sex, love, time travel escapades, and intergalactic mayhem. Since our CD celebrates the personal power within sexually free individuals, we believe the ImageOut Festival is the perfect place for the CD to make its debut," says April Laragy, lead singer for the Atomic Swindlers. The bands sound combines the edginess of PJ Harvey and the explosiveness of David Bowie and the Spiders from Mars, with the slinkiness of Marc Bolan and T-Rex, making for a modern musical experience that transports listeners to a new level of cosmic groove."

The bands members include lead singer, April Laragy, Gary Trainer (bass), Scott Ostrowski (guitar and vocals), Roy Stein (drums), Chris Yockel (guitar), and Brian Eggleston (keyboards & back-up vocals). The bands rhythm section (Yockel, Trainer, and Stein), are former members of the Enigma/Restless Records label group, the Jet Black Berries. The Jet Black Berries sold over 50,000 records and appeared on the Return of the Living Dead" soundtrack. They earned an international cult following as well as critical acclaim from the Los Angles Times, Rolling Stone Magazine, and Sounds UK. They hope to repeat their success as current members of Atomic Swindlers.

The ImageOut Film and Video Festival celebrates the art of film and video making. Boasting 45 film screenings, many guest filmmakers, and a number of lively panel discussions the event has been popular for 12 years. For more on the ImageOut Festival, visit www.imageout.org.
