Angels by Rosemary bring peace and comfort to grieving families
Artist creates one-of-a kind commissioned angel pins that bring peace and comfort to grieving families
(PRWEB) October 4, 2004 - It all started with a trip to my daughters antique store -- the seed was then planted," shares Rosemary Trevino, mother of 3, grandmother of 12, and great-grandmother of 1. Rosemary retired in 1994 following 32 years of federal service. While admiring a pin in her daughters antique store, Rosemary began to envision how she could recreate the old jewels into angel pins. Thus, a second career evolved.
She started with her own stash of jewelry and later scavenged through flea markets and estate sales in search of old jewelry. Over a short period of time, she gave life to hundreds of angels that were sold at local and state-wide craft shows. Rosemary soon realized that a great deal of her creative time was spent seeking out new treasures. Wanting to devote more time to her craft, she eventually took a turn in a new direction, putting a unique twist on a successful business venture. She began to focus on creating designs that could easily be duplicated and sold over the Internet. Since that time, her angels have taken flight to every state in the nation, as well as several foreign countries.
Rosemary feels she found her true calling and purpose for the business when a young couple that had recently lost their child approached her with a request to create a unique one-of-a-kind perfect" angel in memory of their daughter. They desired an angel they could wear every day and feel their daughters presence with them. What followed the creation of this commissioned piece was an influx of special requests for custom-designed angels, many in memory of lost children, family members, or loved ones.
When their daughter Linda passed away following a short battle with acute lymphocytic leukemia, her parents were beside themselves with grief. The following day while sitting in their den, they noticed a dim, colorful light on the wall just behind Lindas picture that portrayed all the colors of the rainbow. During Lindas funeral mass it began to rain. The shower lasted until the family left the cemetery. On their journey home, they searched for a rainbow but found nothing. Upon their arrival home they received a phone call from a priest that had participated in Lindas mass, instructing them to look outside -- there was a rainbow over the Pharr. In their hearts, the rainbow symbolized Lindas journey to paradise. As a result, Lindas family commissioned Rosemary to create a magnificent angel donned in a halo of colorful jewels, each representing a color of the rainbow. Today, Lindas angel is sold in fundraisers through the Linda Celeste Foundation, which proceeds sponsor scholarship awards each year.
I feel extremely blessed," states Rosemary, to play such an integral role in creating memories that help grieving families cope with the loss of their loved ones. I have witnessed these uniquely crafted angels bring peace and comfort in cases where nothing else came close to achieving."
