Webpavement awarded Times Square Electronic Billboard Spectacular contract.

Webpavement announced today that Clear Channel Spectacolor has selected Webpavement digital signage solutions to power a new Barco LED electronic billboard spectacular. The large-format electronic billboard spectacular is the highest resolution LED billboard in Manhattan’s Times Square district.

The billboard’s primary sponsor is General Motors Corporation (GMC). GMC will enhance its brand nationally and internationally with Times Square’s newest electronic billboard. The multimedia content and video will be aligned with GMC marketing initiatives. Lowe Worldwide (GMC’s advertising agency) will be producing the multimedia creative for the electronic billboard.

Mike McGraw of Clear Channel Spectacolor spoke on the decision to use Webpavement over competitive products in the digital signage marketplace. “We chose Webpavement because the system is web-based, offers proof-of-play reporting and requires no technical script writing to schedule multimedia to electronic billboards.” He added, “We wanted full control of the system in our data center and the scalability options for growing our digital sign network. The Webpavement solution meets our stringent requirements.”

Webpavement is widely known as the underlying software infrastructure for the eighty (80) LED signs at subway entrances across Manhattan. Known as the “Digital Street Network”, Webpavement’s solution empowers Clear Channel advertising sales representatives to sell advertising without intricate technical knowledge of the Webpavement software.

Eric Unold of Webpavement commented "We look forward to integrating the Webpavement system into existing and future Clear Channel digital sign initiatives in Times Square and other major cities in North America, South America, Asia and Europe. Our goal is to save Clear Channel time and improve operations while lowering their total cost of ownership."
